Two Investigator's in One Day!
Hello everyone!
Things have really started to go better for me. I'm really starting to adjust to life as a missionary, and I'm enjoying it! This past week has been pretty great. We've picked up two new investigators!!!! First one that we picked up was Torben and Sarah, a couple that lives just right across the street. We had dinner and gave them a lesson on Tuesday, and it went sooo well. They were the ones that actually asked us back haha. Their was just such a strong and indescribable spirit to be felt there. Apparently they have family that are LDS, and they just don't know why they aren't haha. The other investigator was Mona, a sweet black woman we met smoking on her porch. We taught her about the BoM and why we need it, and some parts of The Restoration. She told us that she knew it was true, so that was a pretty powerful experience for us! I don't really know what other missions are like, but for this area two investigators in a week let alone a day is unheard of. I completely accredit that to The Lord however. My Uncle told me about how when he was exactly obedient and worked extra hard, he received great success. I certainly have seen the testament of that invitation!! A big part of our mission is less active members, and in that regard we could sure use it. (there are enough less actives to make a ward in our area, but most are very anti mormon) There have been a few that have hearkened. The first and most incredible example is Joey . I won't go into where he's been, because it's not my place, but the great and wonderful part is that he's been able to take the sacrament for the first time in 36 years. I really have taken the sacrament for granted in my life. It's such a reaffirming ordinance, especially to have His spirit to be with me. The other less active, is still in the process, but we have him going through the 12 step program that the church put out, and it seems like if it sticks with it, he can stay sober. Otherwise, there was kind of a cool/funny experience yesterday. We were finding in Eastpoint, a small oyster village when this guy rode up on his longboard. He asked us kind of what we did as missionaries and what church we are a part of. We're teaching him this week, but the funny part is before he knew much about the church he asked where he could get an application to go on a mission haha. I think I've already mentioned it, but the members are just so great and so genuine. Those that come, have an incredible testimony of our Savior and His gospel. I'm doing great though, and I appreciate y'all thinking about me and praying for me. Love y'all big!! (especially my bestest mom!)
