Hello Everyone!
First of all Happy Halloween Tomorrow! I'm excited for Halloween because we are going to the Temple!! 🙃 it's an awesome treat to go to the Temple! We have District Meeting at 11pm to 1pm and then we have 1pm to 5pm to Proslyte and then we go to the temple and then we are told we have to go straight home afterwards and we need to stay there. We can't even get together as a Zone and have an activity like last year. I guess there was some problems last year with that.
Anyways, this week has been AWESOME! Transfers happened on Wednesday and my new companion is Elder Reid! He is from Colorado and he has been out for a year! It nice being with missionaries that have been out a while because we have been through a lot haha. Elder Horner was transferred somewhere in the downtown Gilbert area. He is second half training so that awesome. Next awesome thing is we made a New Investigator! Her name is Meagan and her Mom, who she lives with is a member. Meagan has a 5 year old Daughter and she is super awesome because she likes to work hard but on her days off she like to have fun like go places with her daughter Lilly and plays video games with her and she took her to the Ward Halloween Party! So on Friday we had an appointment and made a time to take Meagan on a church tour for the next day! So on Saturday we took her around the Church building and I Love church tours because we can explain all about why every room is important in the church and yes if you didn't know, EVERY room is important in the church because every one has a specific purpose why we have it. We also have this awesome Church Tour app on our phones that have little one minute clips about some of the rooms we have in the church that we share as we go around, I always end my tours with showing the Baptismal Font because aside from the Sacrament which helps us remember those baptismal covenants or promises this is the most sacred experience on a church tour. We share how baptism works and how we are blessed as we follow Jesus Christ and his example in scripture to be baptized. When I give a Church tour also I always start in the Chapel to explain the Sacrament then we work our way through to the Sunday School rooms and pass the Bishops office and explain about Priesthood leadership. Then we share about the Relief Society and Primary then about the Cultural Hall and about Priesthood meeting. Then we focus on Baptism. It's awesome and we usually get done around an hour. We set another time we could come over for the next day! So Sunday we went over and started to speak to Meagan about her Concerns about the Church and she started just confessing all these things she felt like she has done wrong and I don't know why but I felt so much more love and trust in her because of that. She wants to feel forgiveness and she wants to repent so we challenged her after the Church tour to pray and read the Book of Mormon and then on Sunday after that crazy spiritual experience, I felt prompted to asked her if we could go over the Baptismal Interview Questions with her and she was fine with that the only problem was is we haven't even had a discussion about the lessons yet so why would I feel prompted to go over the baptismal Interview questions when she probably has no clue who Joseph Smith is or what in the world the Law of Chastity is! We kind of went over about the word of wisdom after the Church tour because she had the popular concern on why we can't drink coffee. ☕ But we haven't really explained anything else so talk about trusting the spirit! We went through the questions and yes she didn't know who Joseph Smith was so she didn't say yes that she knew je was a Prophet but we explained about the Law of Chastity and tithing and reviewed the word of wisdom and she was completely fine and then we spoke about coming to church on Sundays and she said she will not come to church if she has to wear dresses 👗, she only wants to wear Jeans 👖 and her cowboy boots 👢 so we told her that was completely fine! And after we got through the baptismal Interview questions we got to the last question about commiting to the covenants you make at baptism and we asked her if she would be baptized on November 18th and she said she would! So we have another appointment with her on Friday and then also Saturday because they are feeding us Dinner out of there sweet hearts! So Miracles this week we also have a new investigator named Jessica and we spoke to her about helping our children to hear the music of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and it related to her so well that she wants to know more!
So Saturday was our reward this week for all the hard work we have been doing because we had the best service project ever! We went to a Car Show! It was for the special Olympics which I got to help out with last year and hopefully this year too but this car show was to help Rasing money for the special Olympics and what a turn out! And how big were our faces when we got there! I saw everything! It was awesome one of the thing they wanted us to do was to take some of the special Olympic athletes and take them to the contributors who brought there cars to the show and give them a thank you card and comment on their cars! So we literally were able to go by every car and shake their hands and do talk about their cars 😂! So awesome! I saw a rare Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, that had all original parts and it was only 1 of the 7500 made of that year. And since I am a movie geek I have to share these ones, there was Ghostbusters van and a Back to the Future replica DeLorean with prop parts and everything. I saw a Slingshot three Wheeler with the Godfather on the front haha. Love it all! It was fun to help out for a good cause too! Anyways I hope the rest of your week goes well and please be safe Tomorrow during Halloween. I love you all and hope you will all be blessed for your efforts to follow our Savior and as you love others and and serve them this fall season!
Love,
Elder Schmidt! 👌🏼
P. S. I will be sending another email with more photos!
