First, I loved President Nelson's message last Friday and I hope all of you were able to see it. I could feel his love us and the love that God has for me. President Nelson is such a humble, faithful man. I am grateful God has prepared and called him to lead Christ's church today. I have sought to thank God for specific things in my prayers.
We sent President Nelson's message to some people we are teaching. We even sent it to Jennifer (the woman who accepted a baptism date before moving the same week to NJ). She messaged us and told her the video made her feel special. Speaking of Jennifer, we finally video called her along with a trio of Elders in the mission north of us. Jennifer now lives in their area. We were able to bare our testimonies and the other Elders scheduled a future lesson on the spot to teach her. I know she is in good hands (she was always in God's hands but it was cool to meet the missionaries who are teaching her now).
One day this week we had two impromptu lessons. Egla (who we originally taught English but now she has interest in the gospel) and Robinson. They both reached out to us and told us they could meet in a few minutes. We had great lessons with them about the Plan of Salvation.
Our companionship goal is to speak more Spanish in our apartment. That has helped me practice phrases and vocabulary. And if I say something wrong the first time, I repeat it correctly with help from my companions.
The temperature is pretty chilly now; it fell into the 30s this past week. It is worse if it's windy.
I have learned this week to show more gratitude to God, celebrate my successes, and do the simple (sometimes hard) things each day that bring me closer to God.
Love you all. And more thoughts to come next week!
Until next time,
Elder Williams
My invitation to you: read Mosiah 24 and ponder individually or as a family:
-How can we withstand the social pressures and continue to exercise faith in God (verse 11-13)?
-How have I seen the hand of God in my life? Have i thanked him for these miracles? (Verse 22)
