Lusaka, Zambia - Matero Ward

Elder Olsen

Week 5 in Lusaka.....Alice & Joseph’s baptism. Our mission truck was robbed....they took Elder Olsen’s scriptures!

Hey fam!

This week was another good one for me and my comp. We had a lot to do again... We were able to do some service which was nice and also teach plenty of lessons. We were able to help a family in our ward move to their new house on Tuesday. This family is awesome. They are the Ngenabanka family and they love the missionaries. They feed the 4 of us missionaries in the ward every Saturday so we grateful for the opportunity to help them out this week.

On Wednesday we also did some service for a part-member family named the Makombe's, that stay far in our area. It turned out to be a fun night. We did some gardening with them for a little while and then we played some games and had a fhe. It was a fun night. We actually plan to baptize some of the grandchildren in the near future. They are a wonderful family. In fact Grandma and Grandpa Makombe are the first two members of the church in Zambia. They truly are pioneers. They were baptized while living in the UK and then came back to Zambia and started the church. It's a really long story but they are very wonderful people with a strong love for the church.

The rest of the week we did a lot of teaching. I also was able to go on exchanges with the Assistant (AP's) on Friday which turned out to be a really good experience. I was able to work with Elder Kennedy half of the day. Also on Friday we had two baptismal interviews for our investigators. Alice and Joseph both passed their interviews and then we baptized the following day. I was able to baptized Alice and Joseph (who is 9) was baptized by his father, Brother Zimba. It was another wonderful day for baptisms. The water was really cold but luckily it was a nice sunny day.

Sunday was awesome as well! We had 8 investigators at church. It made us feel pretty good because with Elder Olsen going home in a week we are really trying to get as many people to church as possible. Well with the good and the bad that took place this week all in all we really enjoyed ourselves. The missionary work is pressing forward!

Until next week. Sending love from Zambia!

Ps. Enjoy the World Cup everyone! Haha

Pps. We also had an interesting experience this week... Our truck got robbed... So we were at a dinner appointment with a member and anyway after the dinner we went outside and discovered that our truck window was smashed in, one of the tires had been slashed, and someone tried to pick the lock but failed and jammed the door so our keys couldn't open the driver side door. It was crazy to discover that this had happened but the lucky thing is that only Elder Olsens scripture bag was stolen haha. We had cameras, money, etc, in the car but the only thing stolen was scriptures. You know the ten commandments say thou shalt not steal... well stealing scriptures just seemed pretty ironic but messed up haha. Anyway we recieved a new truck to use temporarily while the other gets repaired. Crazy adventures in Zambia.

Have a great week!
