So this last week was pretty awesome! Last Thursday, we went on a double-decker tour bus (Editor's note: I attached an online photo) and drove around Madrid looking at all the sights and lights. Then on Sunday and Monday, Christmas Eve and Christmas, respectively, we finally got a break from the hard core MTC life and were able to do lots of Christmasy things like watch "The Muppets: A Christmas Carol" and open presents and see Santa. He´s lost some weight and has a bit of a Spanish lisp, but he delivered presents so we´re not complaining. It was nice to Skype with my family, and I look forward to being able to do it again on Mother´s Day.
Apparently, the MTC doesn´t observe Boxing Day because on Tuesday we went back to the grinder. It was difficult because we had kind of gotten used to the laid-back, chill atmosphere of Christmas, but I think we´ve recovered.
It´s crazy to think that I´ve been here almost 8 weeks now... the time has passed so quickly and it doesn´t feel like 8 weeks. It´s also difficult to comprehend that I´m on a totally different continent. Trippy stuff. I fly out to Ukraine on January 9 and TBH I´m ready to go right now. It´s not that the MTC is bad or anything--I just feel like I´ve learned everything I´m going to learn here.
It´s been really warm here, like 55 to 60 degrees kind of warm. We´re also in a drought. From what I´ve heard, it´s similar in Utah and New Mexico. Hopefully things turn around. I´m kind of happy because no rain means we can continue to play street soccer... but that might be a bit selfish. The teachers here are really funny because if it gets below 50, they require us to bring heavy coats! Haha! They just don´t understand that 50 is pleasant for us.
For New Years, we´re going to celebrate by partying every hour. After all, it´s 12:00 somewhere! So that´s all I´ve got for you. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are ready for New Years!
