Week 31: "This is a Gift From God!"

Hello again!

We had another great week here! We have still been finding like crazy. This week, we have finally been able to help some more of these new people from the past few weeks progress towards church. We have still been working with our good friend Ken and he is still amazing! We taught some of the commandments this weeks and he is totally on board with it all so far. We taught him about the word of wisdom and he said that he would drop coffee that day and replace with water. We followed up the next day and he told us how that morning he went to the lake, he went to the concessions stand where he usually buys a coffee but instead he asked for an ice cold cup of water. He said that he sat in his car, overlooking the lake, water in hand and thought to himself "this is a gift from God". It is amazing to see how willing he is to drop anything and everything to come closer to God and how his willingness allowed him to see it as a blessing and not just a restriction.

I have been thinking about how I can learn from Ken's example. I need to be willing not just to drop anything that is distancing myself from God but I need to do so with the attitude that "this is a gift from God". We learn about this in D&C 130:20-21.

"There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated—
And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated."

Every time we are feeling blessed, we should thank God for all the commandments and guidance he has given us that allow us to be in that particular situation experiencing those particular blessings. As we do so, the commandments and guidance from our leaders will be easier to follow and we will have more joy as we do so.

Have an amazing week!
Elder Walker
