Lake Elsinore

Elder Kyle Phister

Share the Love

I guess you could say I have learned something. I learned that the way I was thinking was making me more vulnerable to Satan. Something happened yesterday that I will always remember and use to stay focused. We were able to go and visit with a woman named Nova, she was the first convert that Elder Phister ever talked to. And she will be moving soon so she wanted to have us come over. But just a little back ground on this woman, she was when she was first being taught homeless. She has some mental challenges and has no family she lives alone with her two dogs. She is stable now though she has a small trailer and a very simple and humble living style, It really has opened my eyes. She has the knowledge of how much her Heavenly Father loves her, she has the knowledge of the atonement and gospel of Jesus Christ, and she has a family no matter where she goes and she has so much joy and gratitude.

She talked to us for a long time. She apologized to us about how she had been acting lately. We talked about her moving and we gave her a little tailored lesson and Elder Phister made her promise to "stay in the boat". We gave her a blessing and after words she gave us each a rock. This rock for me will be something that I will keep, it is my little reminder of her and what she taught me. I need to stay focused better and really lose myself, I of course already knew this but I just wasn't able to see it yet. I understand now and I think it has clicked. I needed that meet up just as much as she did, I may be the missionary but I learn just as much as these people do.

I actually have a challenge for you guys. I want you all to commit now to be more missionary minded, not just now but for the rest of your lives. Start now in sharing what we know, seek and pray for missionary opportunities. It is truly the entire reason for us being here. I have the opportunity to teach the plan of salvation to people quite often. If you think about it that is our responsibility. We have the knowledge of where we come from, why we are here, and where we are going. I can testify that this is why we are here. Not only are we here to learn about the gospel for ourselves be we as members of the church need to help our brothers and sisters. They really are our family and we need to help them. We are so blessed with this knowledge and it can not be found anywhere else. We are the only ones that know about it and we need to share it.
We were able to sing I Know That My Redeemer Lives in church, and it was pretty good and fun. I actually was kind of scared but I did it anyway and we were able to make some people cry. :)
The fun part was being able to sing and bring the spirit into the room.
