Carlsbad, New Mexico

Elder Pawlak

Carsbad New Mexico!!

So this week was pretty crazy! I drove to Carlsbad on Tuesday and said bye to Elder Garlick that morning:( it was pretty sad, but it's definitely gonna be a good transfer here in New Mexico!

Elder Pawlak is a sweet dude! He's from Lyman, Wyoming and he's one of the humblest guys that I've met on the mission! He's had some rough patches in his life, but he was able to get back into the swing of things and now he's out on a mission! He's been on his mission for about 3 months, which is kinda funny cause I only have 3 left! But we both want to get a ton of work done and it's pretty sweet!

The ward here is pretty great, everyone here treats each other like family, so that's always something good to see in a ward. I got a call Wednesday morning from one of the counselors and he asked me to give a talk on Easter Sunday! So my first Sunday here I spoke - right on! It was pretty funny, people were like, oh man, they're throwing you right into the deep end aren't they? They're great! Something else that is awesome is that we're in a car area! It's been since October that I've been in car so that's kind of a weird change! But it's a good one!

We did some service at the Zoo here in Carlsbad! They have a desert life zoo here with a ton of animals that look like they came from the deserts in AZ! We moved a ton of cactus and a few of the elders were like, "Elder Bollwinkel, do you know what cactus this is?? (because I'm from AZ) And I was like, ya that's a prickly pear, or a barrel cactus. And the guide there was like, wow, you actually got those. It was pretty funny!

We have some wonderful investigators here that we're working with and we've had some sweet success with them! There are also a few recent converts that we've been visiting with and they are pretty stellar!

I hope y'all have a good week! The Lord has blessings in store for us that we can't even imagine! Love y'all!

Elder Bollwinkel
