Elder Hiner

Week one with Elder Hiner

So I saw Elder Hatch off this week! I'm going to miss that guy! But I also got Elder Hiner! And I'm so stoked to be his companion! Elder Hiner and I started our missions at the same time and when we first started our missions, President Heap told our group that we are more than likely never going to serve with each other and there are about 3 companionships from our group that are together! Pretty crazy!

So sad thing, we had to pass of the Spanish branch to a different elder in the zone because he's the only one that speaks Spanish, and we just set a baptismal date with an investigator. Then 3 of our most progressing investigators are moving into 1st ward, so have to pass them off as well:( But no worries, we're just going to do what we know best and find more people to teach!

We met this crazy lady that was a referral and she wanted a bible. We delivered it and we tried talking to her about the church and she was crazy! She actually knew a lot about the church, but most of it wasn't true. We asked her where she got her info from and said she got it from to everyone: don't ask a ford dealer to tell you something good about chevy. They never will.

While we were doing service, we were moving insulation around in this old carport. I lifted up this huge thing of insulation and there was like a four-foot snake under it! The guy that we were helping told us to move and when we did so (rather quickly) he pulled out a 4/10 shotgun and shot that little guy! We cut the head off and buried it and off course I had to take pictures with it! There was this lump in it's belly and of course we do what elders do, we squeezed it out and it was a mouse...pretty gross but funny!

Not too much else happened! We taught a couple of people, but PLEASE PRAY that we'll be able to FIND more people to teach! There's this sweet scripture in Deuteronomy 31:6 " Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee." The Lord is always with us in everything that we do! Remember that! Love you all and hope you have a great week!
