Abilene, Texas

Elder Hatch

Week 6 in Abilene!

Man this week was sweet! We got quite a bit of work done! The Lord is continuing to bless us in everything that we're doing!

So we went and helped Gabriel with his house again and we got a lot of progress done on it! We started the third story roof and it's coming along really well! We should be done in with it in the next few weeks. We are also helping him build a piano studio in his house and we got most of that done as well! I would've taken pics but I forgot my camera:(

So we've been working with Tim and Megan to help them prepare for their baptismal date on July23rd (this weekend) but we needed to push it back a week because Tim hasn't fully repented of some things that he's working on (smoking). We asked Tim and Megan to share their testimonies with us and it was awesome! When Megan was bearing her testimony I could really feel the Spirit when she was testifying of the Book of Mormon. Tim was very hesitant to talk about his building testimony, but we assured him that through continued study and prayer, the Lord will help him develop a stronger testimony in the Book of Mormon. He said that he has prayed about it and he felt that he needed to read a little bit more and gain more knowledge. We're here for him every step of the way and we're excited to see his testimony grow!

We went and gave a blessing to a lady in our ward who has cancer in her lung. They aren't able to operate on it because of where it's placed. A few days ago they found another in her brain. So that is why we went to give her a blessing and also the other members of the family. They are in rough shape right now but every one in the ward is helping out and being supportive. They are super fun and like us to try to keep things lite. They have a parrot and a like 4 dogs running around. We were able to have a fun time with them and were able to mess around with their dogs!

We were able to set a baptismal date with our investigator Nathan! He's a super cool kid we've been teaching! He said that he wants to get baptized and we told him we can do that and he was so excited! So we set a date for August 20th! We're excited to help him get to that point!

Not too much else happened this week! I'm grateful that the Lord is always looking out for us in everything that we do. I know that as we continue to do what we're told and what we're commanded, He will bless us. If we kind of do what we're commanded, he'll kind of bless us. And if we don't follow the commandments, don't expect to receive anything that He wants to give you. I've been in all three of those situations and I can testify to every single one of you, that following ALL of His commandments and living ALL of His principles is way better than anything else that you can come up with. I love the words of Alma, " And inasmuch as ye shall keep the commandments of God ye shall prosper in the land; and inasmuch as ye will not keep the commandments of God ye shall be cut off from his presence." (Alma 38:1) I love you all and hope your lives continue to improve with the Gospel!
