Amarillo Texas

Elder Parkin

One year in the Panhandle and now Out!

So I got the call... I'm getting transferred to Abilene, Texas! My new comp is Elder Hatch. I haven't heard very much about him so it should be a fun transfer! He's a Spanish speaker so I will be helping him teach a lot of Spanish people haha. That should be interesting!

I've really had a fun time with Elder Parkin. My patience has definitely been put to the test, but I prevailed and have able to help myself improve in love & leadership skills a little bit. We didn't get to teach as much as I would've liked and I can always improve!

This week was pretty fun! I got to go on exchanges with my zone Leaders again and it was a blast! I got to be with Elder Holtman, one of my good buddies, and we had a blast together! We got to teach some pretty solid people and we had a great time together! Their apartment has no air-conditioning so sleeping there was horrible, but we still had a fun time!

We got to go do service with another church on Wednesday and we delivered food to a bunch of kids in a ton of neighborhoods! We bagged like 3000 meals and I was in a bike group that went through this neighborhood and we delivered around 300 meals! It was pretty sweet! My neck got a heck of a sunburn though...forgot that sun block lol - sorry mom!!

We also went and volunteered at this International Refugee Day event where a bunch of refugees performed dances and did a bunch of fun performances to celebrate their culture and stuff! It was super fun! We served food and passed out raffle prizes and I saw some of the members from the Pampa Ward, which was awesome! I got to say hi to them and it was fun!

This week has been RIDICULOUSLY hot and humid and I do not enjoy it all. All of my clothes have been sticking to my body and I can't even imagine what it would be like in South America haha.

But I'm super grateful for the time that the Lord has given me to serve here in Amarillo and I've enjoyed every second of it! There were ups and downs, but everyone's got those. All that matters is how you handled it and how you let the Lord help you. This next transfer I will be hitting my year mark and it's crazy to think that I've been able to have this privilege to serve the Lord. I know that as I continue to learn and progress, the Lord will continue to bless me for my efforts in serving him. I’m grateful for this gospel in my life and I'm glad that I have the opportunity to prove myself to the Lord that I am willing to serve him!
Love you all,
Elder Bollwinkel
