Well, I have come to the conclusion that dogs don’t like missionaries, like to the least bit. On bike day I had to kick one that was chasing me and I felt really bad, because I love dogs, but this was a Rottweiler and I like my life more haha!
So this week was pretty incredible! On Tuesday we had quite a few appointments and they all went super well! We got to meet with Terrence again (the drunk guy) and we have taught him almost everything that he needs in order to be baptized! We have a baptism date with him on the 19 of September and he is progressing so well! He's cut back on alcohol about three quarters of what he used to drink, which is truly unbelievable! We taught him the Law of Chastity, which was my first time doing so. It was a lot less awkward than I thought it would be! He said that he is going to give up tobacco, which is going to be sweet. We committed him to read from the Book of Mormon and to come to church and he said he would! It's going to be awesome!
We have taught so many lessons this week that I can't even remember all of them haha it's insane! Elder Knapp said that this has been the busiest week of Pampa and it's amazing to see the Lord's hand in all of this work! It truly is! None of this would be possible without Him. He has prepared so many people here in Pampa it's great!
So we got to meet with Darrren and Yoland (thugs with the gold chains) this week and it was great! They have really good questions and they are honestly seeking the right answer. They had questions about the three kingdoms of glory and we noticed they were playing 2K15 and the screen was still up while we were teaching. I decided to use the principle of using house objects to help investigators understand the Gospel. I likened the video game to the Telestial Kingdom; you get a little bit of satisfaction when you beat a game. The Terrestial Kingdom is like the Cavaliers when they got second place in the championship. And the Celestial kingdom is Golden State when they won the championship title haha! They found that pretty amusing and they were able to understand it a lot more. A kid walked in during our lesson, went to the kitchen and walked out really fast, and Elder Knapp and I were pretty sure that he just bought drugs. So we'll work on that another time lol! Lots of great things are happening here in Pampa, we're about to light it up on fire with the gospel!
Sister Garcia is a member in the ward who lives by herself. She hasn't had her full fellowship in a while due to some issues, but every week we always give her service. She called us and said that she had a pipe leak and to get ready to get muddy. We had to dig a huge hole, get down & dirty and fix a water pipe, which I've never done before. We got it fixed somehow, definitely a miracle from our Heavenly Father, and then on Sunday, she got her fellowship back! She is so excited for that and we're very happy for that! She was sick earlier this week. Like she had some type of infection and wasn't doing too well. We went over and gave her a blessing of healing (thanks mom for the oil). It was my first time giving a healing blessing, it was such a spiritual experience for me! Awhhh, I love the gospel!
So Sunday was absolutely amazing! We had 6 investigators at church! We taught Douglas and Delissa earlier that week and his brother and their entire family were there! So on the Sabbath, we just acquired like 5 new investigators! They punched our appointment on Friday so we weren't expecting them at church, but they showed up! Like their entire family was there! It was awesome! Kiara and Andrea were there as well and a bunch of our less active members were there at church too! We set a record for the amount of investigators at church and it was great! There is a huge field here in Pampa and it's getting Whiter than Me! It's almost harvesting time!
I love all of you guys and it's great to see the Lord's Hand in everything that we do as missionaries. We need to give Him all of our heart, mind, might and strength; and he has promised us that He will bless us when we do that. I know that as we continue to be obedient missionaries and obey the standards, we will be blessed with success, because the Lord has promised us that! He is bound when we do what He says (D&C 82:10) and He will always provide for us! I challenge you all to live the standards that have been given to us by the First Presidency and I promise you, as a Representative of Jesus Christ, that our Heavenly Father will bless you! I love all of you guys and hope for the best!
