Pampa Texas (South)

Elder Knapp

Kill'in it in Pampa!

Alright so August 1st marked my one month of being a missionary and reporting to the MTC! It's crazy how fast time is rolling by when you're in His labor! Another huge shout out to some best friends Ethan Hyde and Aaron Williams on their mission calls! That's so awesome that THE BOYS are doing so much good! Hopefully Dallin Husso doesn't get arrested...

So this week went by super fast and it's outrageous how much work is getting done! Elder Knapp and I have been teaching quite a bit the last couple days and it's great to see the spirit help us and guide us as we teach people that need the gospel in their lives! We've continued to teach Kiara and Andrea. They are understanding so much for just being 9 and 8 years old! It was Andrea's birthday on Saturday. We were invited over for cake and it was so much fun! We found out that we need Oli's (the dad) signature in order to baptize his children and he's pretty stubborn and doesn't recognize the importance of baptism for his children. So that's a little roadblock that we're dealing with and that might push the baptism back a week, so that stinks. No worries, we're still working hard to meet with them and teach them what they need to know.

WE FOUND A NEW INVESTIGATOR! This is the first investigator that Elder Knapp and I have seen or found together. Cause he had investigators before that he met with and I didn't, but this one neither of us had met previously. His name is Johnny, he's like 42, and he knows a bunch about the bible and was very open to us teaching him! He knew a lot, which was good cause then we can discuss like missionaries. We've been teaching a lot of kids so we have to explain things SUPER simply, but with Johnny we can make references and all that good stuff! He wants to meet with us again and we can't wait to teach him again!

We had ward sports night on Friday, which was awesome because we got to play basketball and football, plus we needed the exercise cause we don’t have a gym. The ward here is great and they show so much support for the missionaries! I love these people here. Even though the ward is full of some of the most odd people you will ever meet, they demonstrate tremendous love towards us!

It was my first fast and testimony meeting in Texas and it was awesome! The spirit was so thick that I could've cut it with a knife, if I had one of course haha. Everyone here is so sincere and they all love the gospel and live it to its fullest extent. I can't wait to see what else the Lord has in store for me but I'm sure he has plenty! I would like to challenge all of you to think about all of the talents and abilities that the Lord has blessed you with and then think about how you can and have utilized those in helping and blessing the lives of others. He gave them to us to share. It's truly amazing to see the effect that you can have on others lives if you share. I love all of you guys and I know that this Church is true and that the Lord has blessed us with modern day prophets to help lead us, and guide us how to better become like our Heavenly Father! In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Paul Hatch says:
You brought to my mind Alma 29:9 when I was reading your post.. "I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy."
