Howdy everyone! How's it going in Gilbert? I've been in the field for a full week and I've loved every second of it! It's still weird to think that I'm the guy in the white shirt on a bicycle on the street! But I'm getting used to it! My first zone is the panhanlde zone! I'm serving in the town of Pampa, Texas! My first companion (trainer) is Elder Knapp! He's an incredible missionary and we are getting work done here! He's from Rexburg, Idaho so he misses the mountains a lot. It's so flat here that if you're in a building and look to the horizon you can see the curvature of the Earth haha. It's that flat!
We've been meeting with some of our investigators throughout the week and it's great to see them progressing in the gospel. Ruby and Oli are less actives in the ward. They have two daughters, Kiara (9) and Andrea (7). Oli said that if we teach Kiara then we can baptize her, and that's exactly what we did! We taught her the first lesson and then I committed her to baptism on August 8! It's so exciting! Then Kiara and Andrea came to church on Sunday so it was great to see them there! We also found out that Andrea turns 8 on August 1st so we're going to baptize both of them! We really think that when we baptize them, it'll bring their family back together, to church and closer to Christ! We're super excited to see how it's going to play out! I'll be sure to keep you posted with it!
Our apartment is super sketchy and run down. What I mean by sketchy is that a dude died next door in our complex, so ya, that's exciting. But it's all good, it is sufficient in carrying out the Lord's work! I love all of you guys and I can't wait to share all of my experiences with you! You're great!
Love, Elder Bollwinkel
