Companion

Élder Dominiquetti

Week 98 Missionary Email

Hello everyone!!

My last companion has arrived and I am going into my last month as a missionary.

Élder Dominiquetti: He's from Cartagena, Colombia, and has got about a year in the mission. He's a convert of about 2 years, an ex-catholic. His story is that he wanted to prove the Book of Mormon incorrect, but felt the spirit while reading it, and couldn't deny it. He got baptized and went on a mission to leave his social life of non-members and start anew when he came back. He is super cool and has an awesome testimony, a great companion.

Squid Noodles: Yesterday, we had noodles and seafood. However, these weren't just any noodles: they were cooked with the ink that comes out of a squid so they were black. The sister said that she got the recipe from Brazil. They did not taste very good, and I felt kind of sick afterwards, but everything's normal as of right now.

In His Time: The faithful will always be blessed. Sometimes in the times that we think we really need it, sometimes later on. I look at the friends we are teaching right now:

Juan: our friend who got over his addiction to alcohol, had an interview with the mission presidency counselor. The outcome was that he did something in the past that will require him to get first presidency permission in order to get baptized. Our mission president said that in order to send in a request to the first presidency, Juan needs to attend church for 3 months straight - we had to tell Juan the heartbreaking news, and he was sad but accepted the news and came once again to church on Sunday - that's 6 of 12 attendances.

Armando: 17-year-old who received an extortion text a week ago. We didn't think he'd get there with us, but it's looking like he will. He's come to church these last two weeks, and is leaving to a new house next Monday. When we told him yesterday that he could get baptized here the day before he leaves, he gave us both a big hug. He told us: "the Lord found a way to make it all work."

These two people are both going to get the blessings that they wanted. Maybe not in the time that they thought or in the way that they thought, but they eventually got their righteous desires. Sometimes the Lord gives us "line upon line" (2 Nephi 28:30). But he will eventually deliver on his promises and help us to understand the plan that he has for us.
