Hello everyone!!!
Hit a year this week and we just keep working in Famesa!!
Chillin' at the Beach: Took my second trip to Miraflores this week, which was honestly super fun! I stay convinced that non-American beaches are much better than those that we have stateside.
Start of College Football: Kinda can't believe that we are once again starting another college football season. Do miss going to those games at Lavell Edwards!!
1 Down, 1 to Go: As I was calling my parents today, my Dad asked me a very good question: "If you were to talk to someone who is about to start their mission, what would you say?" I told him I would tell them 2 things:
1. "The Mission is not a sprint, it's a marathon." I think sometimes we can get so caught up in the things we can't do and we get mad at ourselves the first time we mess up. Instead, we need to be patient with ourselves but anxiously engaged and consistently focused in making it better.
2. "The Quicker you submit yourself to Jesus Christ, the more enjoyable your mission will become." This is some very simple advice that has a deeper meaning. What does it really mean to "Submit yourself to Jesus"? Is it just being on a mission submitting yourself to Him, or is it something more than that? Is it being your best self or just blending in with the crowd? Is it following the missionary standards only when we feel like it, or all the time? The sooner we can really internalize this simple but profound truth, the more joy we can have in any circumstance.
This past week, I hit a year in my mission. Time is so weird right now, and it feels like a while, but not really at the same time. I've learned a lot, but I would say that the most important thing I have learned is that I know that there is a Heavenly Father that loves me. This changes everything. Thanks to that sure knowledge, I know why I'm here, and I can have peace in any circumstance. I know that I am a child of God.
