Hola a todos!!
As explained in the title, my entire neck looks like a reptile and I'm shedding a pound of skin every hour because I broke rule 4.9.2 in the mission handbook, and failed to wear sunscreen on a 6 hour hike in direct sunlight. Quite painful but it was all worth it because we saw a bunch of cows. Definitely one of the coolest parts of the mission so far (right behind offering people eternal salvation every day ofc). And I honestly didn't even know Spain had anything except for crowded cities so that was a pleasant surprise.
We celebrated our friend Aaron's 16th birthday with him by eating chicken wings and playing fortnite (dont worry mom I just spectated) and it was so fun. I think we're his closest friends, which is why we were the only ones at the party, so we really had to step up for his gift. We did our best with the budget we were on, so we got him a bar of chocolate and a bag of chips and wrapped it in princess paper. Unfortunately he doesn't like chips, so we went 1/2 on the gift which is rather unfortunate. Aaron has also somehow learned english from being with the missionaries so much and also from watching American movies, so his vocab is quite literally all over the place, which makes it very fun to talk with him.
Had another banger Bible bash for an hour while I was on exchanges with another missionary who has only been in Spain 1 transfer more than me so that was awesome. But this one was different, cause the guy we were talking to was actually listening to what we were saying. Ended up actually swaying him and now he's reading the book of mormon and praying about it. So I guess the moral of the story is, never stop Bible bashing 🙏. Jk can't encourage this behavior, but definitely cool to see someone who actually wants to know the truth.
Other fun things:-We played simón says at english class this week, and Elders Simón and Simmóns led it which was quite funny - We have an amigo who rejected a baptismal invitation because he believes in Darwin and we didn't come prepared with a thousand scriptures about the creation lol
-I learned that God only speaks Spanish from a friendly spaniard so that's interesting, they never told me that in seminary-I was "kebaptized" this week, which is where you eat kebab from a sketchy shop where you question if you're gonna live but it was actually kinda good so I think I'll be returning-A kind German woman gave us apples after we gave her mom a blessing, and she had a cute dog so that was overall a massive W-We played "do you love your neighbor" with the young adults, but it was in Spanish so it was like the hardest game I've ever played -Spanish milk sucks, so sorry to my fellow milk powered missionaries, but I'm gonna have to sit out for a while
Spiritual Thought: At the top of our hike this week, we read Christ's sermon on the mount in Matthew 5. Something that I loved was in verses 14-16, which is when he talks about not hiding your light, and letting it shine to the world. This is so easy to relate to missionary work, but we often forget that it isn't just missionaries that are spreading the joy of the gospel to the world. It's everyone's responsibility to emulate Christ and to let your light shine so that people can see the joy that the gospel brings.
Thanks for reading this week, sorry it's a bit long. Even though if it really bugged you, I don't imagine you would even read it so I guess I'm really not sorry. Anyways, have a great week everyone!
