Greetings everyone,
Well, I'm finally getting over jet lag so now I have nothing to blame my exhaustion on other than absolutely GRINDING out here in Spain. But it was a great week with many great, spirit filled lessons.
Earlier this week, after we had dinner at a members house, she wanted us to take her kids with us to an English class that we teach. While waiting for the bus outside, a strange Spaniard man (who definitely was not sober) walked up to one of the kids with us and asked him if he knew us. He then went on to explain that we're a crazy cult and that we're trying to kidnap them. After a few more minutes of threats and insults, the police showed up to make sure that we weren't lying. After calling the Panama kids mom, we got it all cleared up and went on to teach a banger English lesson, and on the bus ride over there, the older kid we were taking said to us, "that was good, but the only thing that he missed were polygamy and joseph smith." And I almost died laughing.
We had a few member meals this week, and all that I've eaten in the last couple months has been mtc food and random apartment food, so to eat some home cooked south American food that didn't try to murder my stomach was the best thing ever. And eating at members houses when you can't speak their language is especially fun, so I had to work my hardest to make conversations with people that I've never met, in a language that I've spoken for a week. But, it went so well and I'm so grateful for my "spanish moms" for laughing with me as I learn Spanish.
We had Zone Conference this week and it was so so fun to be with all the missionaries and to be back with President and his wife. The spirit that is felt in a room full of missionaries is so strong (at least when you're awake) and learning from others and hearing powerful testimonies from everyone there was a much needed boost. Afterwards, I went on exchanges with my ZL in Alcorcon and we tore that place up for 24 hours and even taught a French class to a few amigos.
Other Random Things: I had my first Bible bash with a dude on a bench, and it actually strengthened my testimony even more because everything he was saying was contradicting and made no sense.-We were threatened by an angry Spaniard when we knocked on her door and I think she said a bunch of not so nice words to us, but jokes on her because I can't even understand her.
Spiritual Thought: After we read 3 Nephi 11 with an amigo this week, I was bearing my testimony and I was testifying that the spirit was with us as we were reading. As I was talking, he interrupted me and said, "I feel that too, that spirit is so strong right now." He was so excited to feel the light of the gospel and was so excited to go home and read even more to continue having the spirit in his life. He had the biggest smile as he left and that just reminded me of the power of the Book of Mormon in our lives and how important it is to be reading out of it every day. I know that it has the power to change all of our lives, just as it did for my amigo.
Thank you guys for emailing me, I seriously appreciate it cause I'm dying out here for any form of communication other than Facebook. Anyways, have a great week everyone!
