Companion

Week 7: City of Dreams

What's up everyone!
I successfully made it to Spain on Friday after 35 hours of glorious traveling! My first area is in Carabanchel, which is just west of Madrid, and my trainers name is Elder Romrell, and he's the actual GOAT.
Leaving the mtc was sad, but mostly just saying goodbye to all of my friends there, cause my stomach has never been happier to leave that place. We left the mtc at 3am on Thursday, headed to the airport, and flew to Dallas for our 4 hour layover. We were supposed to leave Dallas at 5, but we ended up sitting on the tarmac for 3 hours cause they needed to pull 30,000 lbs of fuel from the plane. Then once that was done, some drunk dude got in an argument and got kicked off the plane so they had to take another hour to grab all his stuff before we could leave. Despite all of that, we landed in Spain at around noon the next day, and my body has never been more confused by what time it is. I think I'm finally getting used to it, but the first 2 days were some pretty sleepy days.
When we got to Spain, we were picked up and taken to the mission office which is right around Madrid. After a few hours of who knows what, we took a tour around Madrid, and it was so cool and got me stoked to be here. Also a fun fact for you, I am 1/1 from 3 in Spain, so I will not be playing any basketball for the next 2 years to maintain that neat little stat.
Aside from all the mayhem, being here has been awesome and the lessons that we've taught people have really been a big testimony builder as I see the faith that all of these members and amigos have. Church was especially cool for me (for the amount I understood) and it was kind of a breath of fresh air singing hymns and taking the sacrament cause that's something that isn't foreign to me. But, it wasn't all sunshine at church, the bishop did make me give a 5 minute introduction in front of the entire ward so that definitely took some faith on my end. And it went surprisingly well, given that I had a whole 10 seconds to prepare.
Some other fun things from the last few days: -I accidentally said a very naughty word in Spanish but the woman we were teaching just chuckled and I actually didn't know I did it until we left her apartment so that was chill. -We ended up teaching a random dude on a park bench the entire restoration out of nowhere and the spirit was so so strong.-Today was p-day and we got lunch as a district and I ordered all on my own like a big boy.
Spiritual Thought: Everyone go read Alma 29 it's seriously so good!! It talks about how we are instruments in the hand of God and how we often think "if only I could be an angel and preach repentence perfectly". But, we need to remember that we are where we need to be and that we can work miracles through the hand of God.
Thank you for all your prayers and I'm so happy to finally be in Spain! Love you all!
