Week 6: The Bean Team

Good day folks,
This week was quite literally the breaking point for both my stomach and my head so I'd be lying if I said I was sad to leave. Hopefully BYU doesn't follow me to Spain and shove more Aloha Plate down my throat. But other than that, it's been a solid week and we actually head out in a week from today. So next week's email might be from the airport.
This week we got to watch the fireworks from the Stadium of Fire from the window of our classroom so that was an absolute blast even though it got us to bed way later than we should have. And knowing that my whole family was in there without me was just the motivation that I needed so I'm boutta go demon mode in Spain.
On the 4th this week, they threw a "party" for all the missionaries and gave us ice cream and let us stand outside and talk for 45 minutes so that was absolutely exhilarating. But the highlight of that night, by far, was when some sister who is serving in Finland (some of you may know her) absolutely ate crap in front of everybody as she was walking back to her room. Unfortunately, I wasn't there to see it but luckily I had some of my goons (shoutout Elder Davis and Elder Cupps) fill me in on every little detail. They described it as a full on penguin slide combined with a yard sale. So I'm sorry to that Finnish sister and I hope your wounds (mostly your pride) are healing up well.
This week we had the opportunity to attend a devotional where Brad Wilcox spoke and it was easily one of the best talks that I've ever heard. He talked a lot about faith and how important change is not only in our church, but in all of our lives. It was seriously so good and really made me more excited for the tougher parts of the mission.
Also a chill birthday shoutout to Big Jill (mom). Hope you had a lovely day.
Spiritual Thought: Something that Brother Wilcox said in his devotional was that God has revealed just enough to us to let us learn, but not enough to compel us to believe, leaving space for choice and faith. If we were just told that this was the true church, there would be no point for any of us being here. We need to be acting for ourselves and actively seeking to know for ourselves. If he just held our heads above the water, we would never learn how to swim.
That's about it for this week, last email from the MTC which is wild. But I hope y'all have a great week. Feel free to e-mail me anything remotely interesting from your lives, because I love reading literally anything that is sent to me.
