Greetings folks,
This last Sunday, I had the opportunity to help administer the sacrament to 12/15 of the General Authorities at their sacrament meeting with all the new mission presidents. It was seriously one of the coolest and most spiritual experiences of my life and I'm so grateful I was able to do that. They had 12 of us blessing, and 24 of us passing and my district was part of the blessing group so they let us into the meeting 15 minutes early and we got to stay until the end of the sacrament until they forced us to leave. But we got to see all of the apostles walk in and take their seats. Something that stood out to me was that once everyone was seated, everyone put down whatever they were doing and stopped talking to just sit and listen to the prelude music and it was maybe the strongest I have ever felt the spirit in my life. The spirit that the Apostles and First Presidency carry is so strong and it was incredible to sit and just feel that spirit while we waited for the meeting to start. It was definitely a change of pace from the sacrament meetings I'm used to so that was really cool to experience.
Other than that, this week was incredibly average. We're still just chugging along in Spanish and I can definitely tell we're all getting better, but it's still kinda draining every day to have class completely in Spanish. On that same note, we taught our first Spanish lesson to a woman on Monday and it went about as bad as it could have. We were planning on getting to know her for at least 5 minutes and ask her simple questions, but Elder Alvarez, bless his heart, asked if we could pray after talking for not even a minute. So, we had to come up with 14 more minutes of lesson on the very little vocab that we have. It's ok though, we did a good job and we made it through. Definitely need to improve that though haha.
Other random things from this week: We said goodbye to the Tahitian Elders on our floor and that was so sad (maybe even worse than my own family) because they have been here since we got here and we got super close to all of them. We got 20 new Elders in our zone which is crazy. And each of the Elders from our zone introduced themselves as the Zone Leader to the new guys which definitely made me laugh cause those Elders were probably so confused why there were like 10 Zone Leaders. The bathroom barbershop claimed a few more victims this week and we're slowly starting to take over the MTC which is pretty funny.
Spiritual Thought: Something that I heard this week during a devotional really helped me focus on why I'm out here. We were reminded that if a mission was easy, you WOULD NOT change. It's the brutal days where you don't think you can even get out of bed that are going to change you. That definitely helped me with not only my mission, but with life in general. It's a nice reminder that when life is hard, remembering that it's the hard times that change us is the most important thing.
But that's about it for this week, I leave in 2 weeks from today which is pretty exciting and seeing everyone leave has definitely made me more excited to get out of here. Anyways, thanks to those who have reached out even if I don't respond cause these days are kinda crazy lol. Sorry again for the long email but hope y'all have a great week.
