Week 1 and 1/2? MTC is CHILL
Hello everyone! Welcome to my weekly email series. These last few weeks have actually been awesome and it's gotten me really excited to be a missionary. I guess I'll give a quick rundown of my last 2 weeks cause I've kinda been afk for a bit. On may 29, I started home mtc for a week and I actually really enjoyed that time. I met my comp over zoom and he's kinda carrying me through the mtc. His name is Elder Dye and he's from Idaho. I didn't get to leave the house too much over that week cause I had classes basically all day. But I did get to ride my bike a few last times so that was super chill.
I arrived at the MTC just a few days ago and so far it's been a really great experience. It kinda feels like a BYU reunion and I'm constantly running into people I know which has made the transition a lot easier. Meeting my district in person was awesome and I feel like we are all already best friends. We eat every meal together and do a lot of class time and studying together, so it would be kinda awkward if we didn't get along. Anyways, my time at the MTC has been great so far and I have felt my own testimony grow much more than I thought I would.
Spiritual Thought: Something that other missionaries always talk about and something that I have heard a ton about is the unique joy that comes from missionary work. I didn't really understand what they were saying until I got set apart as a missionary and started my work. But now I can testify that missionary work brings a whole new feeling of joy into your life. It's a completely different feeling from the worldly joy that I felt when I was biking or when I was with all my friends, but I can promise you that it's something that you don't wanna miss out on. So, if you're on the fence about serving a mission, with all of my veteran experience I urge you to do it.
