Mission Week 46

July 2, 2018

Mis amados amigos y familiares,

What a week it has been! I do want to start off saying that I don´t have all of those pictures that you have mentioned, because I haven´t still been able to buy a new camera..... I have to go to the mall apparently, and I didn´t have time for that. However, my companion has some pics that I will send. So don´t worry bout a thang haha! I know I am being lame, but I don´t take a lot of pics sadly. But I promise to do better in the future. Esta bien?

So anyway, I can´t believe that it is already Independence Day! It seems like that was yesterday when I was in the process of preparing for the mission! Now I am here with almost 11 months. Que Locura! (Side note: why did I happen to leave on the mission when all the good movies come out?) Haha I´m not trunk, but just five years ago you wouldn´t hear of three Star Wars movies coming out on your misson. ;)

This week was exciting, because I had the chance of meeting an old investigator of the other Elders that were here in my area. His name is Emmanuel and he is so smart! He has no problems with any of the commandments, but he just is missing something to arrive at baptism. So we have been teaching him and little by little he is gaining more of a desire of following the example of the Savior and being baptized! I really see a great member out of him. I think he is one of the only Panamanians that thinks before he acts. Also, I am pretty sure he´s the only teenager in the country who understands the physics of fixing computers and exact quotations of modern-day philosophy! He honestly could easily get a full-ride scholarship to BYU; all he lacks is getting baptized. But, he always has his agency! We also spent some time with one of my old investigators named Renny. He was really positive before, but the problem is that he works a lot. For that cause it is so hard to find him. But he knows a lot about the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith! We´ll see what happens with these two indviduals this week!

Then we were doing Cosechas and we came across a Sister Stephanie! She and her mom have been really willing to listen and they seem pretty positive! They weren´t able to come to church yesterday, but we are going to see if they can keep their church commitments for the next Sunday! I´ll be praying for that. Apart from our investigators, I went on divisions with Elder Alvarez! You may think that he´s from Mexico or something, but he is from the foreign lands of Washington D.C.! He is a really funny dude, that loves to rub it in my face that he knows English and Spanish.... Haha but we worked hard together in his area! It was kinda funny, but I found this Panamanian Gumbo in his area. It was really interesting; it had shrimp, crab meat, oats (I think), and mini octopus! I thought it was really good, but the next day I took a few vacations to the bathroom, so i guess that´s what they mean by ¨see¨ food XD But I still bet you are all jealous ;)

Then yesterday was fast day and it was a spiritual experience to humble myself before the Lord in that form. Also, we were really blessed to have one of our investigators Yaffet come to church! We met him two days ago and he said, ¨Sure I´ll go to church!¨ It turns out he met a lot of the youth and he got invited to participate in seminary. We are planning to hold his baptism next Sunday, because he is so willing to to do it! :) So I´ll let you know how it goes!

That´s it for this week, but I just want to wish you all a Happy 4th of July!!!!! I´ll be enjoying it here too showing my gratitude for the freedom that I have to worship and spread the Gospel!

The one and only,
Elder Overall
