So, I have a funny story to tell. We met Marsha from a referral from the sister training leaders. When we first met her, we went right into teaching. But she was interesting, forest she brought up the concern that she doesn't feel like she needs to read the book of Mormon. That she can just feel God in her heart. OK, not a hard concern. We talk about how the book of Mormon and going to church are not the only things that draw us to Christ, but they are a tool to help us better do so. She agreed as we were explaining this. Afterward, we ask if she would do it, she said no and pretty much repeated the same concern. She was laughing throughout the whole thing too. It was funny. But we wished her farewell that first time we met and hoped for the best for her.
One thing I have been reading is in the new testaments. Specifically in Mark Chapter 18. Throughout the whole chapter, Jesus talks about offenses. And it seems confusing why offending children would be so wrong in the sight of the lord. I then clicked on the footnote over offenses, and it said, "or cause to stumble." Inserting that definition makes a TON more sense. Because what that means is essentially a stumbling block the gospel path. As for missionaries work it means that being someone who leads people to the gospel I must do my best not to be a stumbling block. my companion Elder swift keeps saying "our investigators have a lot of concerns, let us not be one of them."
Sincerely
-Elder Merrick
