O Taste and See that the Lord is Good

Wow, it's been a while! The last few weeks have been crazy and miracle filled! Matias was baptized, ordained to the Aaronic Priesthood, and is loving going to church! He's there early every Sunday to prepare the Sacrament and is such a good example to his family. He's going to FSY this week, so that'll just be a huge icing on the cake for his conversion.

His family is going through hard times economically right now, however I can totally see the blessings of the gospel start to be poured out on them. I know that Matias and his mom can see it. Now we just are really praying that his step-dad Antonio can see it! Matias' little brother Lucas who's 12 told us he wants to get baptized so he's on date to be baptized this Saturday. Much prayer is needed!

It's been cool lately to see the Holy Ghost guide Elder Vasquez and I. We've really humbled ourselves and shown God our desire to help guide His children to receive a remission of their sins, and everlasting happiness, through the Atonement and gospel of Jesus Christ. So many ideas have been placed in our minds then confirmed in our hearts to be able to work more effectively and help out the ward. Being a missionary is the funnest!

This week while meeting a less active family we met their tía Eliana and her kid Antonio! They're not members but are so prepared to accept the gospel of Jesus Christ! Eliana, like every other person in this country, is an inactive born and raised catholic. She doesn't like the catholic church and feels like it doesn't encourage catholics to learn things for themselves. Years ago she met some missionaries who just taught her how to pray. She loved that they taught her not to mindlessly recite a specific prayer, but to actually communicate with her Heavenly Father and ask Him for the things that SHE needs.

Later she had a really hard experience with depression. It got to the point where she couldn't even get out of bed. Then she remembered what the missionaries had taught her about prayer. She started praying and instantly felt a wave of love and happiness, the Spirit! She's known ever since that God loves her and listens to her prayers. We taught her and the whole family the Restoration, and they ate it up. Now they're praying about the truth of it, and I know that once again God will come through and give them the answer they need.

"O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him." -Psalm 34:8
