New transfer calls, new companion. The streak continues.
Elena Hidalgo is this lady we've visited for a month. She's never kept her commitments or seemed overly interested. A week ago we met her husband Felipe Flores. He'd been a drunk his whole life who would leave home for months at a time without explanation. About 3 months ago on his own decision he decided to stop. He hasn't drank ever since! When we met him he said that he was super grateful to be able to change, and wants to serve Christ. Super cool right? We read Alma 15:5-12 and invited them to read the Book of Mormón together.
On Thursday we went back, and they had actually read!! Elena said that she didn't read our book before, or go to our church, because lots of her friends said lots of things about the Mormons. Classic right? BUT then she said she didn't find anything bad in the book, it seemed to be like the Bible. And we didn't seem to be bad people. We always taught them good stuff about Jesus Christ. So she said she'd keep giving it a try. That is a win!
We taught about the correct baptism. We gave 'em the ol' Mosiah 18 and when we asked them "if this be the desire of your hearts, what have you against being baptized in the name of the Lord?" tears broke out as they said there's nothing against them being baptized. Elena explained that now that Felipe has changed they want to be together as a family. They've set a goal to be married on May 14, then baptized after!
