Eternal Life!

Hola buen día! What a crazy week! We had zone conference, lots of service, survived a crazy wind storm without light, and almost won 2 pizzas from a soccer tournament.

Zone conference was awesome as always. It was interesting because our zone (just one district) is kind of secluded in the jungle, so zone conference was with 14 missionaries. Also the chapel pretty much broke down so there was zero water and most the air didn't work. I'm not sure why, but all the elders wanted to wear suspenders, so we all matched looking pretty clean.

On Thursday afternoon we were talking to this investigator outside of her little tienda and all of a sudden it got super dark and a little windy. We could tell something was about to go down so we left and started booking it to one of the main roads to try to take a moto taxi before the storm. After about a minute of running all the lights went out, and the wind got super strong. All the dirt from the roads was swirling in the air, so even with our flashlight we couldn't see anything. Luckily we were close to our pensionista's house, and knew where we were enough to make our way there. The family was pretty worried that the storm would damage their home. We said some really cool prayers with them, and then just waited a couple hours. I read Ether 6 and played chess against the 10 year old daughter. Luckily their house was pretty much ok, but their was quite a bit of damage to other houses. Good opportunity to serve!

On a funny note our pensionista has this dog. His name is Kaiser, aka Elder Kaiser. He is a missionary. Everyday after lunch he follows us. This week was crazy! He knew exactly which houses we were going to! He would walk in front of us and go right to one house, wait for us, then go right to the next house we had planned. One of the times we weren't sure which house it was, but Kaiser went up to one of the houses and boom he was right! He's definitely our new companion.

On Friday we had a lesson with Grisel. When I first got here to Trinidad, Grisel was on baptismal date. It fell through, and I had never seen her show any interest in baptism, reading the Book of Mormon, or even talking with us. We felt like we needed to mix things up. To start the lesson we told her that we honestly don't know her very well yet, but we wanted to. We asked her a few questions about herself, and she asked some questions about us. She likes futsal more then fútbol, her favorite colors is black and pink, the tattoo on her arm is the name of her grandparents, and the moon one on her finger is to match her sister and cousin. Then we told her we had one more question, but it was a little more deep. We asked her what she wanted in life, her desires, or her fears. Guys her answer was SOO perfect! She literally said "I want eternal life"!! Whaaaaaaat!? All we do every day is teach eternal life!¡! That obviously got us pretty hyped, and we proceeded to smack scripture upon scripture. We shared 2 Nephi 2:27 and told that she is "free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator" as well as many other goodies.

Her attitude with us completely changed! She was really interested in the Book of Mormon, and asked us if we could come over the next day. Eternal life!! What a blessing! I challenge y'all to take a minute and get to know someone a little better this week!

Que tengan un día bendecido!
