It's been another blessed week here in Södertälje with many miracles and adventures!
We had Zone Conference this week which was probably the highlight! But on Monday we drove all the way to Nynäshamn to pick up the Visby Elders for workovers the day before Zone Conference!
I had the opportunity to be with Elder McGill from Provo Utah! He is a new missionary but he is amazing! His Swedish is way good and he knows how to teach like a legend and work hard! We had a great day together and got to teach two lessons! We taught the miracle guy that we found last week and he is doing really well. We taught him about the plan of salvation and read from the Book of Mormon with him. Elder Young and I taught him again and answered some of his questions and it's so cool to see him start to understand stuff!
For example, we talked about agency and the role of Jesus Christ. Whenever we do something that is not obedient to God we lose some of our agency. This applies to addictions and even just little things like lying. We related it to a beach. At this certain beach there is a sign that says "Danger: Whirlpool". We have the ability to choose what we want to do. We can stay at the beach, we can build a sandcastle, we can go home, or we can choose to go into the water near the whirlpool. However, once we are caught in the whirlpool we don't have the ability to choose very much, we're trapped. But the role of Jesus Christ is to always give us a way out. It won't necessarily be easy or comfortable to get out, but Christ is always there to take us to a better place. We explained that to him and he started explaining how the scriptures in 2 Nephi 2 made sense to him! Neat stuff :) Also shout out to the gospel principles book.
Zone Conference was also AMAZING! There was a huge focus on finding new people to teach! If we can find more people to teach then we will be able to increase the rest of our key indicators. Elder Young and I were able to share how much focusing on finding has helped our area and the miracles that have come from it (for example: the guy we found last week).
Sister Youngberg also shared something really neat! She wrote up three quotes on a whiteboard:
Comparison is the thief of joy.
We can stop comparing our worst to other people's best.
You are the only one that can make you feel worth less.
We talked about comparison and the harm that it causes. Our pride leads us to seek the praise of man instead of the praise of God. One of my favorite quotes from a BYU devotional that we listened to in the car this last week was "the competition is not with others, it's with yourself." It kind of changed my mindset on things. We aren't competing with each other in life, we're all on the same team trying to reach the same goal. So when someone else does something awesome, we don't have to beat ourselves up because we didn't do as well, we can rejoice with them like Alma did in Alma 29 :)
We have a neat week set up with lots of service so it should be good!
Also I have the BEST DAD EVER! He is always looking for ways to help and encourage me. He is also the wisest person ever and has advice for literally any situation! Love you Dad :)
