Tjena everyone! This week has been CRAZY and so much has happened, so I'm just going to jump right into it.
Tuesday we had Zone Conference!!! It was amazing to say the least and the spirit testified to me like 50 times that President Youngberg is called of God. I was also blessed to get to know everyone in the zone since this is my first Zone Conference in the Stockholm Zone. President Youngberg talked a lot about faith and that we can receive power from it. Faith is one of those things that I feel like I overlook a whole lot, but when you think about it, faith is the beginning of every single thing we do in the church. When we strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ, we also strengthen our faith in the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, Eternal Families, you name it. It all begins with faith! So I've been asking myself this week: How can I improve my faith? I really like the answer that Preach My Gospel gives: Your faith will increase through diligent study, prayer, DEDICATED service, and obedience to the promptings of the Holy Ghost and the commandments. I really liked how it said dedicated service instead of just service because we show our faith through action! When we are truly dedicated, we act as a disciple of Jesus Christ and strive to do the things that He would do.
Wednesday was one of the craziest days I've had here in Gävle. We did service, read the Book of Mormon with a less active member, gave a church tour, and taught the Restoration to the daughter of a member of the ward (she lives in Uppsala but it was still awesome to give her a good experience with the church), had coordination meeting, branch council, and then we met Gloria on the way home and gave her a invite to a ward activity that we had on Saturday called Chill Kväll! It was such a miracle though because we hadn't had contact with Gloria the whole week!
One fun thing that happened this week was that we went to a Kräftskiva at a member's place! For those of you that do not speak Swedish, it's basically just a crawfish party! Don't ask why it's a thing, how it started, or where it came from, because those are all questions I asked - and no one knows. Not even Swedes. But it was awesome! Basically everyone just puts on funny hats and eats crawfish every August and yeah! (pics will be included) It was an experience to say the least. I love the Swedish culture so much!
On Saturday we had our ward activity called Chill Kväll! We spent a lot of time taking invites out to people we've met, less actives and even just members so that we could get as many people as possible there! A lot of the people couldn't come unfortunately but it was still awesome and I was able to build relationships with a lot of ward members - including our only young man in the ward, Ruben! We ate tacos together and then played minute to win it games and it was super fun. Somehow the last game just turned into everyone jumping and hitting balloons in the air and it was hectic but hilarious and I really love all the members here in Gävle so much :)
Church yesterday was one of those "Stressful Sundays" that people talk about. Early in the morning I got a text asking if I could play the piano for church, and for those of you who know me, you know that my piano skills are slightly lacking BUT I practiced and it went well! Apparently the lady that usually plays is having some health problems so I might be playing every week :') Anyways, I also gave a talk about the Word of Wisdom and the gift of tongues is real, I'm just gonna put it at that. I also gave a prayer, so I was kinda a part of the whole program, but I loved it!
Also so many other miracles are happening here in Gävle that actually involved my family in South Jordan UT but I'll tell more about that next week after we meet some people!! The Lord is preparing people and it's such a blessing to be a part of it as a missionary!!!
I just wanted to conclude with a short testimony of Joseph Smith. I KNOW that he is the prophet of the restoration and that he was called of God. I KNOW that he restored Christ's true church here on the earth. Can you believe that he was only 14 when he had the first vision, was 17 when the Angel Moroni appeared unto him, and was able to establish Christ's church here on the earth as well as receive more than half of the revelation in Doctrine and Covenants before he was 25. I can't even fathom the faith of that man. He truly was called of God.
Thank you all for being awesome and keep being awesome
