First off, I want to apologize for my email last week, it was not the best and if you havent read it I'll get you caught up! First, Ida has a baptismal date! For this Saturday!! And second, I fed a duck out of my hand!
Luckily this week has been a bit more eventful and I have some cool things to share! To start off, it's really crazy to think that Ida's baptism is this Saturday! That's like in 5 days or something! I'm so excited for her and this week we've been setting lots of things up so that we can give her the best experience possible! Did you know that she is going to sew her own baptismal dress? Yes, she is that awesome. Also want to hear something else that is crazy? SHE WANTS ME TO BAPTIZE HER!!! :) I'm so excited and honored that she wants me to do the honors! I can't even begin to explain how many times I have practiced saying "Med fullmakt av Jesus Kristus, döper jag dig i Faderns och i Sonens och i den helige andens namn, Amen," this week haha. But she is so excited and passed her baptismal interview yesterday so everything is official now! It makes me so happy and I've seen the difference that the gospel has made in her life and she's already sharing it with all her friends and everything! Yesterday she was unable to come to church becuase she had this huge work thing that she planned like months before we even met her. But she does musicals and stuff and one of the numbers they did was from The Book of Mormon musical. At the end of their performance lots of people were interested and Ida had the opportunity to share about the Book of Mormon and testify on stage in front of like 20 people or something! That was a proud missionary moment. But yeah, for reals she is the greatest and it brings me so much joy to spread the gospel and see it make an impact in people's life :)
On Friday we got the chance to have a big skype call with all the fellow greenies and all the trainers and so I got to see all the MTC friends! They are all doing so good and it was so cool to see all the ways that they've pushed themselves to learn the language and everything!
One thing that really strengthened my testimony this week is service. Here in Sweden sometimes people are a little slow to listen to your message, but one way that we've found works really well is through service! For example: on Saturday, we and the sisters were walking through the streets about to get on a bus to go do some tracting but we noticed that these two girls were struggling to carry a couch. So we went and ended up helping these two girls carry a couch through the middle of Stan (the city) all the way to their apartment. They were super grateful and even though they don't want to take the lessons or anything (yet), we planted a good seed for them and maybe they'll be more open to the gospel next time! You never know!
Another thing that I've learned out here in Sweden is to keep your head up, metaphorically and literally haha. If your head is down you won't be able to see all the little service opportunites you have! Through service, hearts can be softened and it's also one of the most selfish things you can do because it makes you feel so good! :)
A few fun things for this week:
On Tuesday we got to host another missionary by the name of Äldste Olsen who was actually Äldste Beckman's companion! That was neat and he actually served here in Lund so we got to update him on all the people!!
This week 2 people just walked into the church randomly haha. The first one was a guy named Gregor and we only had a brief conversation with him and he said he was going to come to church! He didn't though... The second guy we didn't even know his name but he just walked right in and said he was curious about this church because he always walks past it and then somehow the conversation went to how Sweden went and kidnapped people from England... He was a really interesting guy and after we invited him to come to church he said "maybe i'll see you in the future". He didn't come to church either..
I just want to end by saying Happy Mother's Day, Mom!! Seriously you mean so so so much to me, more than you could ever imagine. Talking to you yesterday was literally the greatest thing ever and I hope that I'm making you proud out here in Sweden! One thing that I don't think I ever appreciated was how thankful I am that I had such an amazing opportunity to be born into the gospel and to be born of such goodly parents! I'm so grateful for the chance we have to have eternal families and for the happiness it brings me to know that and to tell other people here is amazing! I love you so much and I hope you had the best Mother's Day ever and that you enjoyed the pictures of Swedish flowers because I couldn't get you real ones...Alma 57: 21 is feeling super relatable right now.
21 Yea, and they did obey and observe to perform every word of command with exactness; yea, and even according to their faith it was done unto them; and I did remember the words which they said unto me that their mothers had taught them.
Love you, Mom and thank you for your strong testimony and for always being there to support me through everything :)
Have a good week! Rip the jazz but it's ok... They still had an awesome season!
