Äldste Bjornn and Äldste Whitaker

Week one in the books!

Hallå alla! Wow what a crazy week haha. It seriously feels like it’s been an eternity since I was in here and so much has happened! I don’t even know where to start but we’ll just start from day 1 I guess! So to start out Elder McArthur got to be my host, so he took my luggage and we went and got my iPad and went to our dorms and just got everything set up! Then I went to my class and that’s where I met my two companions and the rest of my district! So yeah I actually have a tripanionship. My companions are Äldste Bjornn and Äldste Whitaker. Äldste Bjornn is from Snowflake, Arizona and played football and is way good at singing and everything. We get along really well and are just always having a good time! Äldste Whitaker is a super cool guy who’s sooooooo good at Swedish - he’s been working at it for months. He has a super strong testimony and is also way good at singing so I have two companions that can cover up my voice when we sing :) and the other people in my district are Äldste Youngberg, Äldste Burns and Systrar Payne. Äldste Youngberg is from Ogden, Utah and he’s a more conservative guy but has a way strong testimony and is super nice! Äldste Burns is next. Oh Äldste Burns, the man, the myth, the legend. For those who don’t know, Äldste Burns was actually in my BYU ward so I’ve known him for a while and he’s just a super happy and funny kid to be around hahaha. Last but not least is Systrar Payne who is from Gilbert, Arizona and is just super happy and keeps us focused on what we need to.

So back to our first class! We walk into class and our teacher was talking only in Swedish and no one knew what was going on but we went over some phrases and stuff and no one died! Then we just went to a devotional thing and then back to our dorms! Also I just realized this email is going to be really long so if you want some more specifics of some of these stories just email me!

So day 2 started out a little different than one may expect. We may or may not have slept in until 7:45 cause no one set an alarm... don’t worry I’ve changed and repented since then! But we only missed breakfast and luckily not class! The day was good after that tho! Just class and stuff. Then Friday we taugh our first lesson ALL IN SWEDISH. Boy that was rough but I could actually understand our “investigator” Marzieh who is actually just one of our teachers. But yeah the lesson went better than I thought but our class that went from 6-9. It was really really really tough. Like Äldste Bjornn flipped a table (not really but kinda haha) and Systrar Payne was crying at the end, it was rough. Saturday was jette bra (very good, there’s your Swedish phrase for the week)! I had my first EXERCISE TIME which was actually the biggest blessing cause my body needed to move around after being in class for 6 hours a day for 3 days. I played some basketball and played with Elder McArthur and needless to say we make a pretty OP team. Then later we went and taught Marzieh again and funny story. So we were teaching her to pray and I thought she was saying that she didn’t think she could do it so I told her “jag tror på dig!” which translates to “I believe in you!” But it turns out she wanted to know how prayer works... that was awkward. Sunday was jette bra but also very busy! Lots of meetings, lots of feeling the spirit. Monday was just a regular day I guess. The days are already starting to blend together but that’s why you write in a journal! Tuesday I forgot my card for breakfast so we had to walk all the way back in the 9 degree weather. That was lame. But then ELDER JEFFREY R HOLLAND CAME AND SPOKE TO US! Oh my goodness that was the greatest thing ever. He talked about how important your mission is and being converted yourself and I wish I could say more but I’ve gotta hurry! My favorite quote was “Make every day of your mission what you want it to be” along with the love he expressed for us. But we also had a party for one of the elders in our zone. Wednesday was good but jette long! But that night me and Äldste Bjornn had a dance party to EFY music! Oh wait we do that every night haha. Anyways I’m sorry this was so long but I hope you all had an awesome week! Jag älskar dig alla!
