WWll, Wonders & More Witches
Well, Elder Rytting and I are both staying! I just have to accept that I am a Blijver which just means that I am someone who usually stays in an area for a long time. But I like it because I get to know the ward really well. Like three ward members from Alkmaar came to Den Haag on Sunday and it was really cool to see them and talk to them.
We had another great week! We keep on finding a lot of people but most are pretty flauw. The Hato family is still doing good but they still are not coming to church, which is sad. But other than that, I am doing great!
I have some good stories for everyone this week. First, we continue to find witches which is kind of fun actually. If you ever go on a witch hunt, Delft is the city to go to.
Second, we met the coolest man ever! We were knocking this big apartment building and it was right next to a bunch big nice houses, so we were like, why don't we just try to knock these, it would be cool to get a cool rich investigator. Well, we did. We knocked this one house and this old 83 year old dude opened up and he was like, come in, and said you guys are from Utah, right? And we were like, yeah, how did you know? He said he lived with some missionaries in the 70's. He also had a bunch of random papers everywhere and we were like, what is this all for? He said it was all for his job. He has a masters in mechanical and chemical engineering and a doctorate in environmental engineering. He works in 59 different countries to help get land from the sea, which is really important here in the Netherlands. He has helped with hurricane Katrina and hurricane Sandy. He also has 17 different awards for his work and has been knighted by the king of Nederland. But the best part is, he also survived the Holocaust in a concentration camp. So, he is definitely a pretty interesting dude. He is now going to give us language lessons which is super cool.
My last story was also from last week, we found 16 investigators which is pretty good for our mission. The best was that one day we were on an exchange and we made a goal to get 5 investigators that day and we prayed a bunch of times to get it. Then, towards the end of the day, we only had three and we only had 45 minutes to find 2 more people. So, we were biking to one of our scour buildings but we past this one building we have never knocked before. We felt good about it, so instead we went there. The first bell we rang let us up and boom became and investigator. Then, we were knocking for a little bit and finally the last door we could knock before we needed to leave opened the door, and the missionary I was with, asked her if she could ask God one thing, what would it be? She said she didn't need to because she literally just prayed and asked God how she could help share His gospel and then we knocked her door. So then we were like, well, we are here to share this book, that through it, you will be able to know more about Christ and how you can share His gospel. That was pretty cool!
I know that God does answer prayers and that He leads this work and I am so grateful to be apart of it. I love you all!
