This week started off a little rough! I didn't talk about it last week cause I didn't think it'd matter but I've been pretty sick! So this week I ended up having to go to the hospital to get checked out and they told me I have a pretty decent Stomach Infection! So they threw me on some Antibiotics and Probiotics and I'm just trying to get over that! Me and my companion were trying to think what might have been the cause and we are pretty sure it's from the water I drank at a member's home. I'm usually pretty good with drinking only filtered water but I had forgotten to fill my water bottle up before our appointment and those Indians sure can make their food have a kick to it,. So with no water in my bottle and my tongue on fire I decided to hoist the white flag and drink from the water our member gave us haha 9 days later and the loss of 13lbs here I am...
We also got 2 new Elders in our apartment! Elder Halford and Elder Johnson just moved in with us so now 6 of us are sleeping in 1 room haha. It's actually not that bad believe it or not Elder Halford and Elder Johnson are probably the funniest people I've ever met so even when it's stressful or chaotic I just end up laughing haha.
I'm also really starting to find a love for India! Every day is new and crazy so that keeps things exciting and everyone is super humble which really amazes me. Plus I found a McDonalds out here but what really has started to create my love was reading "Matthew 6:21" It reads
"For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also."
And it was pretty wild because as soon as I read that it hit me like a ton of bricks... it's almost funny to think about but to me my treasure since getting to India has been America... like in my brain that's what I'd compare everything too and that's the standard I held things at so no duh my heart was there as well... But since I read that scripture and decided that my American comparison was over and that I'm choosing to love India with all of its quirks and differences I have become SO much happier and my heart already is turning to India!
I also really like this poem...
"I left a quiet harbor
in favor of another, I know not where.
But first, there are seas to cross
And storms to brave.
How could I prefer the foriegn deeps
to encircling arms of my bay?
Because some things
Can only be learned at sea.
Yes, my craft is watertight,
I can navigate the unknown,
And Lo, the winds that fill my sails
Blow from home.
My winds really do blow from home...
I absolutely love being a missionary and having this opportunity to spread the true gospel in India. I love this church and all the feelings it brings me!
