It has been another great week in the mtc. Today we moved into the new mtc buildings!! They are the nicest things. My class is on the 6th floor, so from my desk I have a sick view of the mountains and the Provo Temple. That’s a huge upgrade from the basement classroom with a view of a bush. Every floor has two ponder rooms with these wall to wall murals, and then there is a huge outdoor study area. The spirit is so strong in these buildings.
During church we got a new member of our Branch presidency. He and his wife were in our district Sunday meeting after sacrament, and we were talking about obedience. He said, "Our lamp is filled by oil bought at the market place of obedience—drop by drop." Just like when you are baptized, you cannot choose which commandments you want to follow and which ones you don't. Just like on a mission, you can't choose which rules are not as important, but you need to just simply be obedient to every rule!
We also heard from Elder Massimo de Feo of the Seventy, who spoke at the devotional. He said, "When you have faith in Jesus Christ you follow his commandments, even when you don't understand the reason for them." We need to develop that level of faith and conversion where we do not have to question our commitment to following the commandments. Dad sent me a quote a few weeks back that says, "We should strive for steadiness, and for a commitment to God that does not ebb and flow with the years of the crisis of our lives." -Thomas S. Monson. Find that conversion.
