Elder Matthew Bertha

We are hunters

So this week, following asking our ward to post our English class ad on social media, we grew our class attendance by over 400%!! And even better, we met some people there that might have some hopeful potential into wanting to learn more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Some people come and don't want to meet with us or come to church, but we are able to mold the spiritual share around their needs.

Taiwan, said simply, is a funny place. Yesterday as we pulled up on our investigator’s house, some random kids were legit filming a movie in front of her door. We asked if they knew her, which they didn't, so we just walked on set to knock on her door anyways. And yesterday they had some Buddhist parade out our window and they were launching off massive firecrackers that were going up and exploding in people’s balconies. Super entertaining stuff.

This past week I have been studying a lot about the gathering of Israel in these latter days. I love the scripture Jeremiah 16:16

16 ¶ Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the Lord, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.

As fishers fish with nets and catch many fish at once, hunters use bows and snares that catch animals one at a time.  Sometimes I do feel like I am a hunter searching the holes of the rocks, patiently waiting for the prepared person Heavenly Father will put in my place.  Though slow, I have trust that I am where I am for a specified purpose, and I can be a powerful tool in the Lord’s hand, according to my faithfulness and faith in Him. The Lord always blesses us according to our faithfulness in Him. It’s a law of nature.
