San Pedro Sula, Cortés, Honduras (Las Brisas Ward)

Elder Pérez

Las Brisas

Hey everyone how's it going? I got transferred and I'm in my new area in San Pedro Sula! I'm in the big city. The neighborhood is called Las Brisas (which means the Breezes). The area is in a little triangle of land in between the confluence of two forks of the Rio Bermejo (Bermejo River). The area is way different from what I imagined. Most of the area is pretty typical for Honduras - the homes are very modest by Honduran standards. However, we also have an area along the shore of the Bermejo River. The people who live in this area are the very poorest that I have encountered so far in my mission. They are not really supposed to be living in this area and they have literally made their homes out of whatever trash and left over materials they can find. It is really humbling to see people living in these kinds of conditions. It's a very small area but it's awesome and I love it.
The ward is super cool and willing to work with us and so we're excited to work together with the ward to help the people here to come unto Christ. I'm also now in the San Pedro Sula Zone and its awesome. I miss Choloma but San Pedro is going to be awesome.

On Friday We had our MLC (mission leader conference) meeting which was awesome! I finally met President Cristales. Right away I received the impression that he is the man that the Lord has called to lead the mission. He has a ton of new ideas that we're going to be trying out in the mission and he has a huge vision of the future of this mission which is awesome. We're excited to try out his new ideas and plans for the mission. He is super positive and optimistic about the future and it was awesome to see his attitude and that he's willing to work. I'm super grateful for him and the opportunity that we're going to have to work with him.

Anyways, everything is going well and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to serve the Lord here in Honduras. The more and more I learn and understand the Atonement of Jesus Christ, the more and more I feel of his love for us as children of God and I know that he is with us every step of the way.

Love you all and have a great week!

Elder Ludlow
