Hey everyone! It has been a hot week. I mean, super super hot. I'm pretty sure I'm a bit more red now LOL. But everything is going well. The mission can be tough sometimes and this week was a tough week but we're not discouraged and we are excited about this next week. It was one of those weeks where things didn't work like we wanted them to and we had a lot of set backs. We had a few of our investigators that missed their appointments with us, some of them were not able to come to church. Still we saw miracles this week as well.
We actually had a really good day on Tuesday. It was super cool because we had exchanges with My MTC companion Elder Allen! Elder Allen is now serving as one of the District Leaders in our Zone. It was pretty cool after 18 months of not being companions we got to be companions again for three hours. We went tracting (going door to door trying to talk to people). We had a pretty cool experience at the first house we contacted. The man let us in immediately and listened to us as we sang a hymn and testified that the gospel has been restored and how important this is in his life. The spirit of the Lord was palpable. Elder Allen and I prayed at the beginning of our exchange and we felt impressed that we would find someone today sitting just inside the gate of their house that would be waiting for us to share our message. After 3 hours with Elder Allen we switched and I spent the next 3 hours with Elder Allen's companion. Before I left Elder Allen he turned to me and said you have to find that person that is waiting for us. As I switched and started working with his companion I kept thinking and praying about what we had felt. Right before the end of the day we found the individual that we had been looking for. He was sitting right inside the gate to his home and he had been praying to God for answers. We have an appointment with him tonight and we are super excited to see how it will go. Elder Allen has changed so much since I first met him and it was super cool to see that. I'm grateful for the mission and what it does to change us.
On Saturday the ward had an activity to sell clothes to help raise money so that a couple in the ward can get married. The wife, Rosa is not a member of the church but has been attending church for more than 2 years and has a burning testimony. She has longed to be a member for so long but she's had so many problems and set backs as she has tried to get the paperwork in order to get married. But it seems that the time has finally come. This week they will be finalizing the paperwork and everything so that they can get married and she can get baptized and endure in the church. We're so excited for her!
Even though the mission can be hard sometimes I learn every day the importance of recognizing who we are as children of a loving Heavenly Father and his mercy in sending his Son to atone for us. And moreso I have felt the spirit confirm to me that he trusts us. Knowing that makes it easier for me to trust him. Trust in the Lord! He loves us and his love for us is perfect.
