Buenas buenas cómo están?! Sorry I couldn't write much last week. There were some complications and we ended up having to leave early, but everything's going well! It's been a bit of a crazy week here in Choloma but we're doing good and learning a lot every day!
So...story time. Last Monday right as I finished writing my emails writing we went back to the house to shower from playing sports and stuff. As I was about to hop in the shower I got a call from President Bush. There was a bit of an emergency situation with a couple of companionships in my district. I don't want to discuss the details completely, but in short, there are a couple of extra Elders from my district that came to live with us in our house temporarily. They've been with us the entire week. We've taken advantage of the extra help and we have been doing exchanges this entire week. Basically we have two companionships working our area right now. This has been super helpful in progressing the area. However, It's been difficult in the house because our house is really, really small and cluttered. There is barely room for two of us let alone four of us. That's not the only issue with our housing either. There's a lot of problems with the house we're living in. Aside from being really run down, there are a lot of security concerns. Let's just say we are not living in the best area of town. Not only is it a bit sketchy but it is also very far away from most of the people we are teaching. So this entire week we have been looking for a new pace to live. On Saturday we found a new place that would be a huge improvement. We're in the process right now of trying to rent it. Today we actually have to go and confirm some things with the land lord because she leaves this Thursday for the States. So it has to be now or never. We are a bit stressed because we ar not sure yet if we will get approval for the move. Anyways, lots of craziness haha but we're hoping to get the new house this week.
We're also not sure exactly when the two Elders who are with us right now are leaving, it could be tomorrow or another week so we'll see what happens. Their names are Elder Garcia and Elder Deleva. Elder Deleva is from Buenos Aires, Argentina and Elder Garcia is from Lima, Peru which has been making me think about Elder Tenney- love you man! But we're all getting along well.
We had a really cool experience on Saturday. I was with Elder Deleva and the entire day we were being rejected and all of the appointments fell through and the back up plans and everything. We finally got to the end of the day at about 8:30 at night and we still had a half hour left to work. We had exhausted all of our plans and backup plans and we had tried every person we could think of to contact. Then I remembered a contact that we had made the other day with Elder Garcia and the appointment with him had fallen through. So we decided to pass by again. We got to the house and called out "Buenas!" you don't knock on doors down here. You just call out a greeting and see if they answer. We called out about five more times but no one answered. At that point I turned around and saw a blue house across the street. We decided to contact it. There we met a guy named Steven. He's 19 years old and a really cool guy. He's going through some rough challenges in his life with the death of his dad last month and now he has to provide for his family and his dreams of studying have been postponed. He was really intrigued by our short message of God's love for us and we're hoping that we can help him. He accepted an appointment for tomorrow night. But it was an amazing blessing from the Lord.
We're also going to start teaching English classes this week. Starting tomorrow we will be implementing a new program from the church called English Connect. We're hoping that people show up this time haha. It should be a really cool experience and a great way to connect with the people. Anyways thank you so much for all your love and support and I hope you all have a great week! Hasta luego!
