Here's My Heart

Hey how is everyone doing? This week was a pretty good one especially with General Conference this past weekend. The Conference was absolutely amazing. The speakers and the revelation and the words that were heard and the spirit that was felt all came together to make it a memorable conference to say the least. It was even more amazing because we had the opportunity to watch the conference in English so that was great. Last conference I watched it in Spanish and I just remember how I couldn't understand the greater part of it. I am loving my time with my companion Elder Clement. He really wants to work hard. Like many new elders in the mission field he is really struggling with the language. It was awesome that he was able to listen to conference in English. Together we are trying to find new ways to help our investigators progress and keep commitments. They have really been struggling as of late. We continue to work hard and have faith that the Lord will guide us as to what we need to say and do to help each of them.

I really think that with all of the modern day revelation and the new changes that have happened in recent months we are preparing more and more for the Second Coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am so grateful to be guided by a modern day prophet and to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Lord's kingdom on Earth. What a blessing!

One of my favorite talks was Elder David A. Bednar's talk with the metaphor of the rope and all of the principles of the Gospel. It truly all comes down to being one in purpose and in strength. It is all part of the teachings of Jesus Christ who is at the center as the cornerstone. I also loved the multiple talks that discussed the importance of trusting in God to help us overcome our weaknesses, our fears, and our sins to gain more faith. I loved the talks from Sister Cordon and Elder Stevenson about becoming a minister of Jesus Christ and helping and caring for God's children in a higher and holier way. I gained a deeper understanding of how we can become shepherds and care for our brothers and sisters. President Eyering along with a few others talked about the importance of taking upon ourselves the name of Christ which is what we do when we discuss the name of his church as mentioned by President Nelson. Many of the talks tied completely together which just demonstrates the miracle of how God reveals his will to his servants. And whether by his own voice or by the voice of his servants it is the same. I loved it all and I didn't want it to end. We really are blessed to have the opportunity to listen to the pleasing word of God that can heal a wounded heart.

"Let thy goodness like a fetter bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander Lord I feel it, prone to leave the God I love.
Here's my heart oh take and seal it seal it for thy courts above,"
These are the words to one of my favorite hymns"Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing." I love these words because even as faithful latter day saints we sometimes have that fear that our hearts are prone to leave the God we love, but if we have faith and follow him we can seal our hearts to him so that one day we might live with him again. If we keep this desire and hope in our hearts that we will have our hearts sealed to him someday we will find the courage to make good decisions now and to be happy in this life and rejoice in the marvelous plan of Salvation with Jesus Christ and His Atonement at its center.
I love you all and I'm so grateful for the answers that I received to my questions in conference and I know that if we heed the words of our prophet and the other general authorities that we will prepare ourselves to live with God again. Thanks for your support and have a great week!

Love,

Elder Ludlow
