We had some good stuff happen this week. We taught several new people, taught most of our recent converts, and we had Elder Renlund visit! He talked to the YSA, then the relief society, then the missionaries.
He talked about several things, but he also said he wanted us to remember 3 things in particular:
1. On behalf of Jesus Christ, the 12 and Presidency thank you for serving an apostolic mission.
2. You have been called by prophecy to serve in this mission by Christ Himself.
3. All 15 prophets, seers, and revelators signified President Cleveland and his wife as your mission leaders. "They love you to pieces."
Then talked about the importance of staying committed, and drew a 2x2 grid on a whiteboard, with + and - effort and + and - attitude as the factors in it. You can work with a good effort and a poor attitude, which he jokes he inherited from his Finnish heritage. He said the second verse of the national anthem begins, "Our land is poor and will remain poor." Go Finland, he said. He concluded miracles happen when you work with a Christlike attitude and great effort.
The next day, we had a lively discussion that lasted about two hours after our lesson with a family of less actives about issues they had with the church and doctrine, who come by every now and then. We were actually able to resolve some of their concerns. Fingers crossed they will come by more often.
