Elder Tesch

Transfer for Elder Bateman

Dear Family,
Sorry you didn't get a letter last week. So two Monday's ago we had a Zone activity. So all of the Elders and Sisters in our Zone came to the stake center and we played volleyball, basketball and we had some arts and crafts. haha. We all had an enjoyable time. After p day we had a dinner with a member and they took us out to Texas Roadhouse! It was really good! Monday night Elder Bateman got a call from one of the assistants asking him if he would be a District Leader.

On Tuesday we had our District meetings. I taught on gratitude. One thing I talked on was practice teaching shows our gratitude for the investigators that God has given us and trusted us to teach. After District meetings our District went out to have district lunch at a restaurant called Red Hot & Blue. It was really good!! After lunch, Elder Bateman spent some time packing because he knew he was leaving since he had gotten a call. At night we went over to our ward mission leaders house and two other members homes. Also I got the transfer calls on Tuesday night saying who in my district were leaving.

Wednesday Elder Bateman finished packing in the morning. We went to a members house for dinner and then visited all of our investigators so Elder Bateman could have one last lesson with all of them.

Thursday was transfers! Our whole Zone was getting reworked. Spanish was coming back into the English program and half our zone was getting transferred away. Elder Oyler became a District Leader and he is in our Zone now!!! His ward goes to the same church building as us and I see him a lot in meetings! So that is sweet! And then also I got put with Elder Tesch!! He has been out for about 5 months. I served near him when I was in Haymarket and he was in a neighboring ward. He is sick!! He's a stud. After we got back from transfers we went to the bible study just so he could check it out. And a lady at the bible study actually pulled us aside and asked us questions about our Church and wanted to know more! It was sweet!

Friday we had weekly planning in the morning. Went to the Library. And then did some service by picking up a member's mail and newspaper and putting it by their door. haha. They were out of town and asked us if we would do that. I also took Elder Tesch to meet a few families and investigators.

Saturday we went to clean the Church again in the morning and then we had ward correlation. And since we had like 3 new missionaries in our ward it took awhile because our ward mission leader wanted to get to know each missionary. But it was a really good correlation. I didn't write down what exactly we did two Saturday and Sunday's ago but on one of the days I remember we went and tracted in this sketchy neighborhood. And on the other day our neighbor who is like right next door knocked on Elder Tesch and I's door and she told us she was locked out. And since our leasing office was closed we knew she would have to pay $75 to come get the locksmith guy to come let her in. (This happened to this sisters but then Elder Bateman broke in to their house so they didn't have to pay it). So what do we do?! We ask her if we can break into her house for her! So we started by trying to unlock her front door with a credit card thing but we weren't getting anywhere so we came inside and said a prayer in our apartment and then with our new found vigor we went out and then climbed to the second story of our apartment building and we unlocked her back sliding glass door and got in! It was awesome that we were home and able to help her! She was super appreciative.

So this is all I got for two weeks ago! That's the best I can remember.

Love, Elder Hinton
