Campoy, Peru

Elder Isaac Crosby

Week #60

Hey guys,

So transfers are tomorrow and I thought for sure I was being shipped out of Campoy. President Amato called me yesterday and told me I would be staying in Campoy a little longer and he also assigned me to be the District Leader. Not too happy about that part, but I'm happy to stay in Campoy through another transfer. I would rather just work and not have the weight of the responsibilities of a DL. Oh well, I'll do what the Lord has asked of me. I have never been in an area longer for 12 weeks. After this transfer I will have been here for six months! Elder Crosby is pretty cool and we get a long great, so I'm happy about that part as well.

So this past week has been pretty good. We started teaching another new investigator named Angel. He's a pretty cool guy. He loves to call us at 5 a.m in the morning. I usually don't answer because I'm sleeping. lol A new experience I had this week was while we were at Angel's house teaching a discussion with him. I needed to use the restroom, so he took me in the back. I was expecting to find a normal toilet of some kind, but instead I was shown a hole in the ground, guess I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up of a toilet at all. I was like, okay sweet. This will be interesting. lol Later on we were walking the streets contacting and there was some dude talking to people outside in his garments and I was like what the nuts, this is weird. Then some kids started chasing us and throwing rocks at us. I got hit a few times. I guess my cardio isn't very good anymore. haha

Probably the best part of the week was our encounter with the "dragons". That's what the older ladies that go after the gringos are called. They try to flirt with all of us. We contacted some by accident and all they would do is make the kissy face and say, Oh look at you hotties and make the kissy noise with their mouths, we were like, yep see you dragons later.

We ended the week watching conference which was super good. I was so surprised to hear that my hometown would be getting a second temple! That's pretty cool. We were also waiting to hear about what the new changes would be to the missionary program, but I guess as most of you know that nothing was said about it, so who knows whats up with that. All the missionaries here in our area got together to watch conference. We found us some good treats to eat and keep us awake while we watched it. lol Great week for me, hope you guys all have a good one too!
