Elder Joel Lopez

Week #51

Well this week continued with people we had lined up to get baptized back out. They told us they don't want to get baptized. That was a bummer and really kinda slowed down our momentum this week. We had one cool experience after finding a certain house that we had been looking for. We knocked on the door to this house, but no one answered. I knew there was someone on the other side because we could hear them. So I knocked again and still nothing. I tried again and finally a guy came to the door and opened it. We asked him if we could come in and share a message with him and his family. He agreed and let us in. We went inside his house and shared our message with him. We talked for a while and then asked him how he felt about what we had shared with him. He said he felt really good, something that he hadn't felt before. He told us when we were knocking on the door something told him to open it and let us in, a very weird feeling he had not experienced before. I was super happy that he felt the spirit and we plan on going back to visit him again tomorrow.

Later on in the week my companion, Elder Lopez and I were asked to do trainings for our zone. We had to do two different sessions each for an hour long. This was our first time and we felt like everything went really good. We used a mirror and asked each Elder to look at themselves in the mirror and then we discussed how were are not just come person, but we are all representatives of Christ. Our zone leader is a really good friend of mine. He told me he wanted to see if I was ready or not. I was like, what are you talking about? He said, I think you're ready to be a leader so I'm coming for ya. I was like, mmmmmm okay. lol

Nothing really exciting happened the rest of the week. Seeing dead people in the streets is becoming a normal thing around here. It's so very strange. People were just playing with this guys arms lifting them up and down like it's no big deal here. Crazy stuff. We are off to eat some burgers and play more soccer. I really don't like soccer, but that's all they do here! I'm almost to my year mark. Trying to take everything in around me!

Hope everyone has a great week!
