Week #40

Well what a week! I experienced another earthquake here in Peru. We were all fast asleep and at about 6 am, right before our usual alarms go off, a huge earthquake hit!!! It registered about 5.5 on the scale. I was laying in bed and my bed started hitting the wall super hard. I jumped off the top bunk and started screaming to everyone to get out, get out right now. I started running down the stairs to go outside and realized I didn't have any clothes other than my garments on, so I had to run back up the stairs and find some clothes to put on. Probably not very smart when an earthquake is going on, but I couldn't be stuck outside in my underwear. I made it back outside and everyone else was screaming as they were running out of their houses. It was pretty scary. All of our stuff was falling off of the walls and our shelves. I haven't been that scared from an earthquake since I've been here and we've had a few of them, but this one seemed to be the worst I've felt.

The past week has been pretty good. We had a baptism this past Saturday and had the opportunity to go to the temple this morning. Since our area is the farthest away from the temple, we had to get up at 3:30 a.m. to ride the bus to the temple. I'll be honest, I had a really hard time trying to stay awake during the session....I was literally dying trying to keep my eyelids from closing. lol

Me and my comp are just trying to tolerate each other the best we can. He just doesn't like any gringos. Not much I can do about that. Bad thing that happened to us this week is we lost the lady that does our laundry each week for us. She said she just couldn't wash our clothes anymore because my companions clothes always smelt so bad. I promise you all, I wasn't kidding with how bad it really is. Anyway, she said it was taking her twice as long to do the laundry because she couldn't get the stink out and she was using twice the amount of soap and having to scrub with her hands for a very long time so she just can't do it anymore. Sucks for the rest of us, but we all come as a package, so we will set out to find someone else that can help do the laundry. That's just awesome.

That's about it for the week. Love all of you guys so much. Thank you for the emails. I love to hear from you! Have a great week everyone.
