Elder Tadler

Rapturing and Cops

Hello everyone! This week was super great! We didn't have too much success finding new people this week, but we worked pretty hard. We went and tracted another trailer court, and the first door we knocked on belonged to an older guy. The first thing he said was that we couldn't be there. When we asked him why not he said that there was no sollociting at the trailer park. (He meant soliciting but didn't know how to say it haha.) We said okay, and moved on to the next house. We knocked on probably 10 or 12 doors and had one person that was really interested. We were nearing the end of the trailer court and knocked on another door. Well instead of opening his door the guy opened his window and yelled at us for soliciting. (On a side note, I don't know what it is with missionaries being confused for solicitors. I mean we aren't selling anything, we're just trying to save souls and that sort of stuff.) But anyway he then went on and told us how we were in a false religion and asked if we knew 1 Corinthians 15. We said yes and he asked us what the first 4 versus talked about. We told him we didn't know because we haven't memorized the Bible. He then proceeded to tell us how the first four versus are the entire gospel and it's all we need. (By the way we read it afterwards, and it doesn't talk about anything that he said it does haha.) Then he told us that even people drinking their lives away will be raptured off their bar stools at the Second Coming of Christ and slammed his window. Confused and.. well just confused we decided to move on. Then he opened his door and threatened us saying that if we knocked on one more door he'd call the cops on us. So we left haha. And honesty that was one of the best things that I've experienced so far on my mission. It was so awesome, it just reaffirmed that what we are doing as missionaries is God's work and Satan will do anything he can to stop it. However we know who is going to win, that's Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, it's our job to choose whose side we are on. I love being a missionary and I can't believe I've almost been out for 6 months already. I love you all and I'll talk to you next week!
