Companion

Elder Patterson

Hello. Greetings. Salutations even.

This week's report:

1. In 10 Days we've made 3.5 new teaching friends. For Korea that's pretty amazing. πŸ«‚βœ…πŸ™πŸ™

2. I had the incredible and unique opportunity to travel outside of the mission and go to Seoul, where our mission and the Seoul mission met and listened to ✨Elder Neil A. Anderson✨ Elder Anderson is an apostle, one of the 12 Apostles. He's always been one of my favorites. And it was especially memorable to shake his hand and look him in the eye :) His message was loud and clear: "I have a message directly from the prophet, and that is for the church to continue to grow in Korea, we need the youth to be active and serve missions." Not many young adults from Korea decide to serve missions, we only have 6 elder and 3 sisters in our mission from Korea, so 9 Korean missionaries, out of 75. And there's a direct correlation of who stays active in the church and who served missions when looking at Korea. So pretty interesting and urgent stuff. I didn't walk away from the meeting being all like "wow that was amazing! We met an apostle! πŸ˜Šβ˜€οΈπŸ’" I was like "oh, he's talking to me, I got work to do. this is awesome. let's go to work." πŸ’ͺπŸ˜³πŸ˜€πŸš€"
You know?

3. Being in Seoul was super cool. Can't wait to visit as a tourist after the mission πŸ™οΈπŸ’œ

4. I had mexican food on Tuesday. The place was called Dos Mos. To quote Elder Patterson, "Dos Mos has a special place in my heart, and that chicken buritto has been made into a core memory." 🌯🀧

5. My testimony and love of the Book of Mormon grows everyday, especially as I study the Old Testament with Come Follow Me ❀️

6. My absolute #1 favorite thing about living in Onyang (Asan) is the Branch family. I love them with all my heart. It is absolutely a family. And each week I become more and more confident in talking to others. The Onyang Branch is famous for having feasts after church, and because COVID restrictions are being lifted we started doing it again last week. 😡🍜 They asked me to say the prayer for yesterday's feast, and I said "아이고" which means oh no. But I went forth. It went well & I received lots of compliments. Later Elder Patterson said "when you said that prayer, you sounded the most fluent I've ever heard you speak. I seriously thought someone else was talking."
That's pretty special to hear πŸ’›

7. Tomorrow marks the 4 month mark for me being a missionary 🀯🀯

8. I'm feeling a lot better compared to prior weeks πŸ˜β˜€οΈ

9. Oh yeah, Zone Conference happened. I love President and Sister Sargent with all my heart and I'm depressed that they leave next month πŸ€§πŸ’™

10. I fell in love with the story of the Windows Mite this week, especially the Bible Video depiction and Elder Uchtdorf's most recent talk "Our Heartfelt All" πŸ’œπŸ’œ

Sweet!! This email was hard for me to write, but I made a goal to talk about 10 simple things βœ… πŸ†
