Elder Quist

Constanta Kings

Hey guys,

Can I just say that I am sooooo exhausted! This week has been a tough week because I have just been so exhausted and just so beat! My body feels like its shutting down and everything in it just hurts! Have no idea why but im BEAT!!! I guess that's what missionary work does to you!

Well Transfer Boards came out on Saturday and i am STAYING in Constanta for my 5th transfer straight. I will be beginning my 7th transfer which is 1 transfer away from my year mark and I have only been in 2 cities my whole mission! Pretty crazy to thing about but im staying for a reason! I love it here! There is more work to be done here and im excited to get this transfer rolling. I will be staying with Elder Quist as well!

Tuesday I was able to watch 4 hours of Conference and finish all the sessions since I was able to finish them last Sunday and it was so amazing! Elder Bednar came in clutch and hit us with straight fire about being MEEK! I love it! After watching Conference for a while, Elder Quist and I had a lesson with two Americans that are Christians! This lesson ended up going 2 1/2 hrs long! We were able to teach them the first 3 lessons in Preach My Gospel because they kept asking all these questions! I wont lie though, teaching people that know so much of the bible and just about gospel related things was sooooo hard! I felt like I was serving in the states for a little bit and wow I give so much credit to those missionaries in the states because I would be the worst because I don't know the gospel or the scriptures that well! They were hitting us with all kinds of things and it was tough! Out here everyone is Orthodox or Atheist and so its not as hard to teach people when they don't know anything really! So props to you Savanna (; Keep killing it! My brain was pretty fried after that long lesson and then we had to go teach English so that was fun.

Wednesday in the morning Elder Quist and I decided to go find the referral that we were given! We decided we were going to call him before we go way out there and he ended up not answering so I decided to email him letting him know who we are and when were going to come by his house! After I emailed him, we went to go find him! Well we get all the way out there and the address they give us didn't have the scara number and so we couldn't find him! So we decide to just go back to the church to see if he emailed me back and sure enough he did. The funny thing is though is all he said in the email back was "F OFF"! I just laughed and realized wow he needs Jesus in his life! We laughed for a good minute at that email! That's pretty much how we get treated out here so it was funny to get it over email! One day his heart will soften and he will want that Book Of Mormon that HE REQUESTED......! After that we were able to go contacting and we were able to find these two 8th grader kids and they were super nice and hopefully they will be able to meet this week!

Thursday Elder Quist and I had a solid lesson with Mike! I thought i would be tricky this lesson. So I decided this lesson I was going to go over all the Baptism Interview Questions and have him answer them but he has no idea these are the baptism questions! So we went through them and he Answered them perfectly and even went into detail about all of them! It was seriously amazing. So I looked at him and told him that he just answered all the baptismal questions perfectly and that he is ready! Well after doing that he still wants his revelation. So we asked him how the reading of the Book Of Mormon is going and he told us that he hasn't been reading so much! So we told him he will never get his revelation if he isn't searching for it. So we committed him to read every morning again! Hopefully this revelation will come soon! After this lesson we had to rush to the train station to pick up the Pitesți Elders for our exchange we are going to have with them! After we picked them up, we all went out to dinner at a Greek Restaurant and it was super good!

Friday was our EXCHANGE DAY! In the morning we had District Meeting and that was fun because 3 of the missionaries in the District are going home this Wednesday so it was their last District meeting. I had them tell us their plans for when they go home and that was fun to hear everyone plans! After we went over all the important stuff, I assign people to give us a passion tip, language tip, white handbook tip, and Spiritual thought. Well Sora Garrett had the Passion tip and her passion was running and track and how she loves to run and so knowing me I showed off Savanna and told them all of her PR times in everything she ran and they were like "DANG". I was like yup that's my girl! After District meeting we all went to the beach and went to the pier because the Pitesti elders haven't been and so we all took them and that was fun because we saw some random dude in a speedo swimming in the sea event though it is freezing! On the way back from the Pier I got two calls! One of the calls was Lacra asking me if we could give her a blessing because she has been sick and in the hospital and so I told her of course and that we will meet her at the church! Then the second call was from our zone leaders asking me if our district can pray for Sora Robinson (who I served with here in constanta my 1st transfer) Because on Thursday she has a seizure and isn't doing to well! They have taken her to 4 hospitals and they finally found out what she has! She is diagnosed with Encephalitis and has been unconscious since it happened! They put her on high drugs so she stays asleep for several days! I feel so bad because her mission is done and she is suppose to fly home on Wednesday but she can't! Her mom should be here now in Romania so everyone just keep her in your prayers! Hope for the best! After giving Lacra her blessing, we all went and played basketball for sports night and it got heated! It was super fun!

Saturday was pretty laid back because we spent 3 hours cleaning our apartment because our propertar was being crazy about it! So now it is spotless! Then we just had a games night and that was fun as always!

Sunday was Easter here and we had church and had 24 people show up which is pretty good! After Church Sora Mihialela took us to her house and fed us Easter Lunch which was nice! I got to eat a bunch of Romanian food which is super good! Then we just contacted the rest of the day and didn't get anyone to talk to us!

That is my week! Nothing too crazy but just super exhausted! Hope you guys have the best week! Love you all so much!

SPIRITUAL THOUGHT: Heavenly Father Lives

With all the differences in our lives, we have at least one challenge in common. We all must deal with adversity. There may be periods, sometimes long ones, when our lives seem to flow with little difficulty.

But it is in the nature of our being human that comfort gives way to distress, periods of good health come to an end, and misfortunes arrive. Particularly when the comfortable times have gone on for a while, the arrival of suffering or the loss of material security can bring fear and sometimes even anger.

I assure you that our Heavenly Father and the Savior live and that They love all OF US

The very opportunity for us to face adversity and affliction is part of the evidence of Their infinite love. God gave us the gift of living in mortality so that we could be prepared to receive the greatest of all the gifts of God, which is eternal life.

God gave us the gift of living in mortality so that we could be prepared to receive the greatest of all the gifts of God, which is eternal life. Then our spirits will be changed. We will become able to want what God wants, to think as He thinks, and thus be prepared for the trust of an endless posterity to teach and to lead through tests to be raised up to qualify to live forever in eternal life.

It is clear that for us to have that gift and to be given that trust, we must be transformed through making righteous choices where that is hard to do. We are prepared for so great a trust by passing through trying and testing experiences in mortality.

That education can come only as we are subject to trials while serving God and others for Him.

In this education we experience misery and happiness, sickness and health, the sadness from sin and the joy of forgiveness. That forgiveness can come only through the infinite Atonement of the Savior, which He worked out through pain we could not bear and which we can only faintly comprehend.

“And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.

“And he will take upon him death,

that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people;

and he will take upon him their infirmities,

that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh,

that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.

Even when you feel the truth of that capacity and kindness of the Lord to deliver you in your trials, it may still test your courage and strength to endure. The Prophet Joseph Smith cried out in agony in a dungeon:

“O God, where art thou? And where is the pavilion that covereth thy hiding place?

“How long shall thy hand be stayed, and thine eye, yea thy pure eye, behold from the eternal heavens the wrongs of thy people and of thy servants, and thine ear be penetrated with their cries?”2

The Lord’s reply has helped me and can encourage us all in times of darkness. Here it is:

“My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;

“And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.

God the Father lives. He set a course for each of us that can polish and perfect us to be with Him.

Thought I would share what my Grandpa Shared with me for a spiritual thought because this truly is amazing! This can help so many people and can touch so many peoples lives!
