This week has been pretty good here in TKO. This week we met with a ton of people, I guess telling people that you're leaving is a good excuse to meet with them because, that's what Elder Love did and we met with lots of people.
Also this week we got 3 new investigators. A family surnamed Au 歐 started to get in contact with us, they are super awesome and they are pretty interested in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the best part is that they are a member referral! Member referrals are the best because they already have a friend in the church to answer questions when the missionaries aren't around and to help them feel more welcome in the church. It's just the best! Also Melody was confirmed yesterday and is doing super well.
This week in gospel principles class we were talking about having faith in Christ, and discussing why faith is hope in things not seen and not a perfect knowledge. I was thinking about it and figured it was like trying to solve a difficult math problem by ourselves and the knowledge that we have from a lecture verses just using a solution guide to copy down the solution. If we take the knowledge from our lecture and try several times to solve the problem ourselves and possibly even failing a few times, and act in faith that the problem has a solution, we will eventually start to understand the how and why of the math that we are doing, but if we had the solution guide just telling us what to do we wouldn't learn anything meaningful from it. The Lord works in a similar way, he gives us the information we need to figure out the problem ourselves and sometimes will guide us like a tutor to help us learn. If he just gave us the solution every time we wouldn't learn. We need to act in faith ourselves and have a hope in those unseen things so that we can learn for ourselves the reality of the Lord and his work.
Hope Yáll have a good week.
Fun fact 1: Elder Ashton reports that his new companion, Elder Stansfield is very nice and has been out for 9 months.
Fun fact 2: Hong Kong has been experiencing some rather hot weather. Like, 98 degrees with 95 percent humidity. But he’s handling it fine, so that’s good.
