Area

Kowloon City

Companion

Elder Madsen

Hello!

Hey everybody!

This week was a fantastic one here in Hong Kong, It was a little different settling into a new area, but so far, things seem pretty good. I finished of my last couple days in Sheung Shui with a bang. We had a killer finding session and had a well attended English class.

Thursday we had transfers and It was like starting all over again. I have no idea where anything is; it's like being a trainee all over again. Things are good here in Kowloon City though. The ward seems pretty cool and the chapel is really nice.

This week we also started using our smart phones which was pretty weird. The first night when we got them it felt like we were all sinning going back to the apartments with previously unauthorized technology, LOL! The phones are pretty cool though. There is an awesome dictionary app that makes looking up Chinese way faster so it's pretty cool and it's way easier to take pictures now!

Also, these days I have been reading through the ending bits of the Book of Mormon. While I was reading through Mormon I was noticing that the Nephites, after they had turned away from God, won several battles and started glorying in their own strength, but eventually they are utterly destroyed. In missionary work, or even our normal lives, sometimes we start to get good at something and we start to forget that it was a God who gave us those blessings in the first place and rely on our own strength. While we may have some success from our own talents it is nothing in comparison to what the Lord can accomplish, so we constantly need to strive for humility and continue to rely on the Lord!

I hope some of that made sense... Anyways have a great day! Add Oil!

Sincerely,
Elder Ashton

Fun fact 1: He says his new area is much closer to the mission home-which is convenient.

Fun fact 2: His new companion, Elder Madsen, is from Utah and is pretty tall (he thinks 6 foot 3).

Fun fact 3: He and his companion live with the elders serving in Tsim Sha Tsui, and one of them (Elder Cowgill) is from Castle Rock, CO! Small world!
