Hey! Happy Thanksgiving!

November 20, 2017

Hello,

This week was a fantastic one here in the lovely TKO!

This week the weather is finally cooling down so wearing suits is starting to get a little more comfortable. I have definitely gotten used to the heat though it is about 70 degrees right now and I'm getting a little cold. It will be weird getting back to America in a year; I'll turn into a popsicle.

Anyway, this week was great like always! Why you may ask? Because I get to serve the Lord and invite people to come to Christ.

This week I was reading in Matthew Chapter 3 and it says "But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance." I really liked that. It points out that in order to be baptized we need to bring forth fruits of repentance.

One of my investigators asked us this week how he would know when he is ready to be baptized. One of the cool things about being a missionary is that you get to see the answer to that question, the fruits meet for repentance. It is so cool to see how peoples live improve as they turn toward Christ and follow him. It is truly a miracle, their countenances change.

Also Happy Thanksgiving friends in the USA! Have a good week!

Sincerely,
Elder Ashton

Fun fact 1: Elder Ashton received his box of goodies that mom sent with dad when he went over to China last week for work! He said his tastebuds were overwhelmed because they don’t eat sweet stuff that much!

Fun fact 2: The missionaries get to have a zone party and a party with ward missionaries on Thanksgiving, so it sounds like they’ll not feel neglected on Thanksgiving.

Fun fact 3: Apparently the homemade caramel and fudge that mom sent survived; he said all the elders in his apartment like them.
